We combine traditional Indian craftsmanship with contemporary silhouettes to create elegant, timeless pieces for the modern woman.Role DescriptionWe are looking for a creative Fashion Designer with a strong understanding of Indian ethnic, festive and occasion wear to develop upcoming collections for House of AKS.The designer will be involved in the complete collection development process—from trend research, concept and mood boards to sketches, fabric selection, embroidery placement, sampling, fittings and final collection development.The role will include working closely with Chikankari and embellishment artisans to translate design concepts into commercially viable, premium garments while maintaining the heritage aesthetic of House of AKS.Qualifications & Skills
- B.Des in Fashion Design from NIFT preferred, or equivalent qualification from a reputed fashion institute
- Strong portfolio in Indian ethnic, festive, occasion or luxury wear
- Strong fashion illustration and sketching skills—digital and/or hand
- Ability to develop mood boards, colour stories, silhouettes and complete collection concepts
- Knowledge of trend research and forecasting
- Strong understanding of fabrics, especially Indian textiles
- Knowledge of Chikankari, embroidery, surface embellishments and placement techniques
- Understanding of pattern making, draping, garment construction and fitting
- Ability to develop designs from concept to final sample
- Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop or relevant fashion design software preferred
- Understanding of costing and commercial viability will be an advantage
- Ability to work closely with artisans, tailors and production teamsWhat We’re Looking ForWe are particularly interested in a designer who can bring a fresh, contemporary perspective to traditional Indian craftsmanship and independently conceptualise a complete festive collection for House of AKS.
