The clothing is understated, with a focus on natural fabrics, historically influenced styles, relaxed silhouettes, neutral colours and thoughtful construction. We are interested in garments that allow the body to move freely, and in the small details that make a simple garment beautiful. About the roleWe are looking for a hands-on fashion designer / garment developer to work across the development of our clothing — from initial ideas and pattern cutting through to sampling and finished garments. This is a role for someone who enjoys making clothes and is interested in the construction of a garment. We aren't looking for someone who develops concepts via moodboards. You willDevelop garments from concept to finished sample.Draft, cut and modify patterns.Sew and construct samples yourself.Work with fabrics and understand how they behave, particularly natural and lightweight fabrics.Experiment with construction details such as hems, cuffs, seams, pleats, frayed edges and stitch density.Work on fit, proportion and movement, refining garments through multiple iterations.Work with tailors and production teams to take samples into production. We are looking for someone whoHas at least 3 years of experience in fashion / garment design. Can confidently sew and cut patterns independently.Has a strong understanding of garment construction, fit and finishing.Has an excellent eye for proportion and detail. Is interested in technique and process, not just the visual outcome.Naturally gravitates towards plain, solid colours, neutrals and understated clothing.Has an instinct for relaxed, gender-neutral silhouettes. Is patient, precise and willing to get hands-on with the work. Most importantlyWe are not looking for someone who needs a garment to be complicated to make it interesting. We want someone who can look at a simple shirt, dress or pair of trousers and become interested in how the sleeve falls, how the hem is finished, how much ease the body needs, how a fabric moves, or how a small construction detail can change the entire garment. The simplest garments are often the hardest to get right.
