Our agent Max, builds a world model of how a company works: its customers, data, processes, knowledge, and systems; and uses that context to build software, automate workflows, and work alongside teams.Instead of companies stitching together dozens of applications, services, and manual processes, Frontline gives them one intelligent system that understands their business and helps run it.Role DescriptionFrontline is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to join our team in Montevideo.As an FDE, you will work directly with customers to understand how their businesses operate, identify high-impact problems, and use Frontline to solve them.This is not a traditional implementation or support role. You will operate at the intersection of engineering, product, and the customer. You’ll build applications, agents, automations, integrations, and data models that solve real business problems, often going from an idea to something running in production in days.You will also play a critical role in shaping Frontline itself. The patterns and problems you discover in the field will directly influence what we build into the core platform.This is a full-time, on-site role in Carrasco, Montevideo.Key ResponsibilitiesWork directly with customers to understand their businesses, systems, workflows, and operational problemsIdentify high-impact opportunities where AI and software can transform how customers operateBuild and deploy applications, AI agents, automations, workflows, integrations, and data models using FrontlineIntegrate Frontline with customer systems, APIs, databases, and third-party servicesDesign and evolve the customer's business ontology and data modelPrototype solutions quickly, deploy them into production, and iterate directly with usersOwn customer problems end-to-end—from understanding the problem to shipping the solutionWork closely with Frontline's product and engineering teams to turn patterns discovered in the field into reusable platform capabilitiesHelp define how Forward Deployed Engineering works at Frontline as one of the early members of the teamQualificationsStrong software engineering fundamentalsExperience building production software with modern technologiesProficiency in TypeScript, Python, or similar languagesExperience working with APIs, databases, integrations, and modern cloud infrastructureComfortable using AI coding tools and agents as part of your daily workflowStrong product intuition and ability to translate ambiguous business problems into technical solutionsExcellent communication skills and ability to work directly with customersFluent spoken and written EnglishAbility to move quickly and operate with significant autonomyBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experienceExperience with AI agents, LLMs, enterprise software, data infrastructure, or B2B SaaS is a plus.Our Ideal CandidateBuilder: You would rather ship something than write a document about itProduct-minded engineer: You care as much about solving the right problem as writing good codeCustomer obsessed: You want to understand how businesses actually work, not just the technical requirementsAI-first thinker: AI is part of how you build, not a feature you occasionally addFast learner: You can understand a new industry, system, or codebase quicklyAmbitious: You want to work on difficult problems with significant responsibilityCurious: You naturally double-click until you understand how something really worksExtreme owner: If you own the problem, you own the outcomeHigh agency: You don't wait for someone to tell you what to do nextHard worker
