Apply & track with Apply EdgeIT Field EngineerLondon (Hybrid)Our client is a trusted IT specialist supporting clients across the financial services industry worldwide.Role OutlineWe're looking for a Field-based Service Desk Engineer in the London area, with a broad skill set spanning desktop, server, and cloud support.This role is client-site based, with time also spent supporting the wider service desk team when not on site. You'll need to be able to commute comfortably to central London.What You'll Need to SucceedPrior experience working within an IT Solution Provider or Managed Service Provider setting is essential, along with a track record of supporting and troubleshooting complex technical environments.Strong client-facing skills are important too, handling calls professionally, resolving time-sensitive issues efficiently, and staying motivated to keep growing your technical expertise.Required SkillsCandidates should bring at least two years of experience in a 2nd Line support or service desk role, plus a minimum of one year working as a Field Engineer across multiple customer sites.Solid working knowledge is expected across Azure, Microsoft 365, Windows Server, virtualised environments, Windows desktop, networking (LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless), Active Directory, and antivirus solutions.Experience with cloud-hosted Office 365, along with Exchange and Outlook administration, is required, as is familiarity with backup solutions and scheduling (including Veeam and cloud-based backup services).Strong PC hardware and software troubleshooting ability is essential, along with being a reliable team player, communicating clearly and professionally (including by phone), and demonstrating excellent customer service, attention to detail, and organisational skills under pressure.Main DutiesThe role involves regular travel to customer sites, sometimes routine, sometimes ad hoc, to deliver onsite technical support, while building strong working relationships with stakeholders along the way.You'll represent the company professionally at all times, helping maintain and build its reputation.Accurate logging of all support interactions is required so that client system information stays available to colleagues and account managers.When not on site, you'll provide support remotely by phone and email, escalating issues according to guidance where needed.A flexible, adaptable attitude is important, as is working collaboratively with fellow support staff to build knowledge across the sites you support.
