Field Service Engineer (Rotating Machines)

Job Summary :The Field Engineer will be responsible for onsite installation of electrical rotating machines and ongoing preventive maintenance, repair and calibration after installation. And provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair and maintenance at customer's sites.Essential Responsibilities:As rotating machine service engineer he is expected to carry out the following activities:supervision of installation and commissioning of rotating machines and their control and regulation systems and knowing all electrical aspects of the installation and commissioning of electrical rotating machines.testing and validating rotating machines protection systemstesting electrical machines with AD& DC HV kitsinspecting and servicing brushless excitation system electrical circuittesting surge arrestors and capacitorsinspecting and servicing static excitation injection systems for rotating machinestesting diodes and capacitors on brushless excitationcarrying our IR& PI teststesting temperatures sensors in rotating machinesperforming HV surge testing of electrical machinesinspecting stator windings and coretesting and servicing mechanical jacking oil systemsunderstanding rotating machines lube oil systems and how to inspect them .assembly and handing of vertical and horizontal bearings and rotor mounted fans and blades.measuring mechanical components handling heavy weight and lifting equipmentusing dialectic chemicals for cleaning of electrical machinestesting CT's and VT'she will:· Perform on-site installation, Commissioning, refurbishment, Startup, Maintenance,Trouble Shooting & Upgrading of Medium Voltage synchronous and induction motors , generators , excitation & AVR systems. Knowledge on Medium Voltage Variable speed drives systems will be advantage . · Respond to requests for emergency repairs and services.· Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair and maintenance at customer's sites .· Writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time sheets and expense sheets on a complete timely, and thorough basis.· Provide leadership and technical direction to skilled labor performing work on customer sites. · Maintain strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE safety standards. · Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and a reference for future outagesQualifications/Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university. Minimum of 10 years of field experience in electrical motors and generators.
