Field Technician (Heavy Equipment or Automotive)

Reporting to the Service Manager, the Field Technician will be assigned to a variety of machinery repair tasks required by our loyal customers.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesAs a Field Technician your key responsibilities will include:Diagnosing, repairing, and completing routine maintenance and safety inspections on a variety of material handling equipment and machineryMaintaining effective and consistent communication with the Service Dispatcher regarding ongoing Service jobs, and completing assigned tasks in a timely mannerDiscussing Service job details with customers and communicating a clear understanding of the job scope and repair requirementsCommunicating with the Parts department via phone and email to ensure required parts are ordered, and preparing required parts before visiting job sitesMaintaining proper documentation where needed, including work order forms and warranty paperworkReporting any safety incidents promptly and adhering to all safety policiesRequired Skills & QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:At least 5 years of heavy equipment or automotive repair experience in a related industryProvincial Heavy Duty or Automotive Journeyperson’s ticket or a Relevant Red Seal Trade CertificationExperience with hydraulics and diagnosing and servicing electric engines is a strong assetPrevious aerial platform and lift truck experience an assetStrong communication skills, including the ability to partner effectively with external customers and internal stakeholdersExcellent problem-solving skills and strong aptitude for learning and applying mechanical and technical conceptsStrong work ethic and a positive attitudeHigh school diplomaValid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites in the region is requiredAbility to travel out of town to customer sites overnight is requiredBenefits & PerksLeavitt Machinery is proud to offer competitive compensation and flexible benefits coverage for all eligible employees, including an employer matching RRSP plan:Company paid medical health care plan for you and your dependentsDental plan, vision plan, and prescription drug coverageAnnual health care spending accountLife insurance, short term disability, and travel insuranceSick leave plan – 100% employer paidEmployee assistance programsRRSP matchingOngoing professional development opportunitiesBoot and tool allowancePotential for relocation assistanceThe base pay range for this role is: $50.57 to $56.18 per hour depending on experience.This is an onsite role based in Kitimat, BC.Leavitt Machinery would like to thank all applicants for their interest; however, only qualified applicants will be contacted by Talent Acquisition for an interview.
