Our finance professionals work as fully integrated members of the client’s team, while Gapstars manages recruitment, HR, learning and development, and retention. The client remains responsible for the day-to-day management and work allocation.As our Finance division continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced External Finance Consultant to support our finance recruitment and business development activities.The role will involve conducting technical interviews with shortlisted finance candidates and participating in candidate debrief sessions, providing expert input to help assess candidates from a finance perspective. In addition, the consultant will support our Account Managers by sharing insights into the Sri Lankan finance talent market, including market trends, talent availability, skill sets, and salary expectations, to help strengthen our finance sales and client conversations.This is a part-time/freelance engagement designed to work alongside your existing professional commitments. Your involvement will be flexible and primarily based on our recruitment needs.RequirementsSupport finance professionals across client teams, providing guidance on accounting-related queries, onboarding, processes, and day-to-day challenges.Identify knowledge and skill gaps, create development plans, and deliver training on accounting practices, systems, processes, and soft skills.Proactively identify opportunities to use AI and technology to improve finance operations and explore relevant tools and partnerships.Support finance recruitment by conducting technical interviews, assessing shortlisted candidates, and providing finance-specific feedback during debrief sessions.Provide insights into the Sri Lankan finance talent market, including talent availability, skills, salary expectations, and market trends.Join client and prospect discovery calls, advising on which finance activities are suitable for Gapstars teams and supporting Account Managers with finance expertise during commercial discussions.Act as the right hand to the Business Lead for operational delivery in Sri Lanka, supporting performance, quality, risk management, and escalations across finance teams.Work closely with Talent Acquisition, Account Managers, Business Leads, and client stakeholders to ensure successful recruitment, onboarding, development, and delivery of finance teams.What We AskFinance Expertise: Strong background in accounting and finance, with the ability to assess technical knowledge and provide practical guidance to finance professionals.Relevant Experience: Experience in Dutch accounting, international accounting, audit, or finance operations is highly preferred.Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to interact with finance professionals, clients, candidates, and internal stakeholders.Coaching & Training: Ability to identify skill gaps, provide constructive feedback, and coach or train finance professionals effectively.Commercial Mindset: Comfortable participating in client discussions and translating finance requirements into practical team solutions.Market Knowledge: Good understanding of the Sri Lankan finance talent market, including available skills, market trends, and salary expectations.Problem-Solving: A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to identify risks, resolve issues, and provide practical solutions.Technology & AI: Interest in AI and emerging technologies and their practical application within finance and accounting.Collaboration: Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Talent Acquisition, Account Managers, Business Leads, and client teams.Flexibility: Availability to support the business on a part-time/freelance basis, with involvement depending on recruitment and business needs.Availability & FlexibilityA minimum commitment of 16 hours per week is required, with the exact involvement depending on business and recruitment needs.Interview schedules can be arranged flexibly, but you should be available to attend occasional client meetings and ad-hoc business discussions during Dutch working hours when required.While these meetings are not frequent, flexibility to accommodate them is important for the role.The ability to work from the office when required is also expected, particularly for important meetings, training, or other business needs. "Gapstars is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
