Position: Finance Manager

Location: MumbaiRole PurposeOur client, once of the leading lighting & energy company in India is looking for a hands-on, commercially oriented Finance Manager who can independently manage the core finance function and act as the key finance partner to the CFO.

The role combines Accounting, Financial Reporting, FP&A, Treasury, Working Capital, Compliance, Taxation, Internal Controls and MIS, while managing the AR and AP functions.The ideal candidate should be a strong one-stop finance professional who can manage day-to-day finance operations while providing meaningful financial analysis, cash-flow visibility and decision support to the CFO.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Month-End CloseLead the complete month-end and year-end closing process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.Review journal entries, provisions, accruals, reconciliations and supporting schedules.Ensure proper accounting of EPC projects, O&M contracts, procurement and project-related transactions.Maintain balance-sheet discipline and timely account reconciliations.Coordinate with statutory, tax and internal auditors and support audit requirements.FP&A, MIS & Business AnalysisOwn budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.Prepare monthly MIS, management dashboards and financial analysis for the CFO and leadership team.Analyse revenue, margins, project profitability, costs and variances against budget/forecast.Provide project-level financial analysis and identify profitability and cost-control opportunities.Develop cash-flow forecasts and financial models to support business decisions.Provide timely financial insights and decision support beyond accounting and compliance.Treasury & Working CapitalManage day-to-day treasury and liquidity requirements and prepare daily/weekly cash-flow positions.Track collections, payments and working-capital requirements.Coordinate banking activities and maintain appropriate bank documentation.Manage processes relating to Performance BGs, Bid Guarantees, LCs, Advance Bank Guarantees and other banking facilities.Monitor fund-based and non-fund-based facilities.Support optimisation of working capital and cash conversion.Closely monitor government receivables, milestone billing and collections.Accounts Receivable & CollectionsLead and supervise the AR Executive.Ensure timely and accurate customer billing and monitor receivable ageing.Drive customer reconciliations and resolution of outstanding items.Work closely with Operations/Projects to ensure milestone billing happens on time.Escalate delayed collections and support the CFO in improving cash conversion.Accounts Payable & Vendor ManagementLead and supervise the AP Executive.Ensure accurate vendor accounting and timely, controlled payments.Review payment proposals and maintain appropriate payment controls.Monitor vendor reconciliations and outstanding liabilities.Ensure cash-flow prioritisation of payments.Taxation & ComplianceOversee day-to-day taxation matters, including GST, TDS and other applicable statutory requirements.Ensure timely statutory filings, payments and compliance.Coordinate with external tax advisors/consultants wherever required.Review tax positions, identify potential risks and ensure appropriate documentation.Coordinate with statutory, tax and internal auditors.Internal Controls & GovernanceEstablish and maintain strong finance processes, SOPs and internal controls.Strengthen controls around billing, collections, procurement, payments, banking and expenses.Ensure appropriate segregation of duties and approval controls.Identify financial and operational risks and recommend corrective actions.Drive process improvement, standardisation and automation.Team ManagementManage and mentor the AR Executive and AP Executive.Establish clear KRAs, processes and reporting discipline.Review team performance and ensure timely execution.Build a lean, efficient finance function that can scale with the business.Key Deliverables / KPIsTimely and accurate month-end closure.Timely MIS and management reporting.Budgeting and forecasting accuracy and discipline.Project profitability and variance analysis.Daily/weekly cash-flow visibility.Improved collections and receivable ageing.Working-capital optimisation.Timely statutory and tax compliance.Effective management of BGs, LCs and banking facilities.Strong internal controls and audit readiness.Accurate vendor accounting and payment discipline.Effective management of AR and AP teams.Automation and continuous improvement of finance processes.Ideal Candidate Profile6–9 years of relevant finance experience, preferably in EPC, infrastructure, project-based, engineering, technology or similar businesses.Strong hands-on experience across accounting, month-end close, FP&A, MIS and treasury.Good understanding of working capital and cash-flow management.Experience handling banking facilities, BGs, LCs and working-capital limits.Strong knowledge of GST, TDS, statutory compliance and audit.Experience in budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and project profitability analysis.Strong Excel / financial modelling skills and preferably ERP experience.Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.Ability to work independently and operate effectively in a lean organisation.CA / CMA / MBA Finance or equivalent qualification preferred.Role Profile:This is not an accounting-only role.
