Finance Manager - Operations - ideal first move into commerce from the chartered accounting profession

About UsOcius Technology is an Australian company dedicated to developing and deploying cutting edge Uncrewed Surface Vehicles (USVs). Our vessel's harness Wind, Solar and Wave power to remain at sea collecting vital data for Defence and Civilian applications. We are under contracts with RAN, RNZN and USA and are responding in an agile way to an ambitious program of building and deploying multiple USVs for operations around Australia and beyond.About the RoleReporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Manager Operations will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day finance operations while providing commercial and financial insights that support decision-making across the entire business. Atypical day could include:Lead day-to-day financial operations, including month-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial controls.Prepare accurate and timely management reports and financial analysis for executive leadership.Partner with operational leaders to improve financial performance and business outcomes.Support strategic planning, business case development, and operational decision-making.Processing of payroll and calculation of payroll related taxesManage compliance with accounting standards, tax obligations, audits, and statutory reporting requirements.Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and reporting capability.Support the optimisation of ERP and business systems.Contribute to the development of scalable financial processes to support business growth.Essential Selection CriteriaYou are an experienced finance professional who combines strong technical accounting capability with commercial acumen and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.You will ideally bring:

• CA qualification.
• Degree qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce.
• 7+ years' experience in finance, or accounting roles.
• Strong financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting skills.
• Experience partnering with operational managers and senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building capability.
• A hands-on approach with the ability to operate strategically while remaining engaged in the detail.
