JD: Crypto Accounting Team LeaderLocationDubai, UAEEmployment TypeFull-TimeReports ToFinance Director / CFOJob PurposeWe are seeking an experienced Crypto Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations related to digital assets, cryptocurrency transactions, treasury activities, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will ensure accurate accounting treatment of crypto assets, maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and support management with financial analysis and reporting.This role requires strong accounting expertise combined with practical experience in cryptocurrency exchanges, wallets, blockchain transactions, digital asset reconciliation, and financial controls.Key ResponsibilitiesCrypto Accounting & Financial ReportingManage accounting and reporting for cryptocurrency and digital asset transactions.Record and reconcile crypto purchases, sales, transfers, staking rewards, mining income, and other blockchain-related activities.Ensure accurate accounting treatment in accordance with IFRS and applicable accounting standards.Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports related to digital asset holdings and activities.Maintain detailed records of all crypto transactions and supporting documentation.Treasury & Digital Asset ManagementMonitor and reconcile digital asset wallets, custodial accounts, and exchange balances.Track movement of funds across wallets, exchanges, and counterparties.Support treasury operations involving cryptocurrencies and stablecoins.Ensure proper segregation of duties and internal controls over digital asset management.Reconciliation & ControlsPerform regular reconciliation between blockchain records, exchanges, custodians, and accounting systems.Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.Develop and maintain robust accounting controls and procedures for digital asset activities.Support internal and external audits related to cryptocurrency transactions.Compliance & Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with UAE regulations and internal financial policies.Support AML, KYC, and transaction monitoring requirements where applicable.Monitor regulatory developments impacting cryptocurrency accounting and reporting.Identify financial and operational risks related to digital asset activities and recommend mitigation measures.Tax & Audit SupportSupport corporate tax, VAT, and other regulatory reporting requirements involving digital assets.Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities as required.Prepare documentation and schedules for audits and compliance reviews.Process Improvement & SystemsImplement and improve accounting processes for cryptocurrency operations.Evaluate and utilize crypto accounting software and reconciliation tools.Support ERP integrations and automation initiatives.Develop management dashboards and reporting metrics.QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field.Professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent preferred.ExperienceMinimum 5–8 years of accounting or finance experience.Minimum 2–3 years of direct cryptocurrency, blockchain, digital assets, Web3, exchange, or fintech accounting experience.Experience handling crypto exchanges, wallets, custodians, and blockchain transaction reconciliation.Experience preparing financial statements under IFRS.Previous experience in fintech, digital assets, crypto exchanges, blockchain companies, or investment firms is highly preferred.Technical SkillsStrong understanding of IFRS and accounting principles.Cryptocurrency accounting and reporting.Blockchain transaction analysis.Financial statement preparation.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.Experience with ERP systems ( QuickBooks)Experience with crypto accounting platforms such as CoinTracking, Cryptio, Ledgible, Bitwave, or similar is preferred.Core CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.High attention to detail and accuracy.Excellent financial reporting capabilities.Risk awareness and compliance mindset.Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.Process-oriented and highly organized.Success FactorsAccurate and timely financial reporting of digital asset activities.Zero material reconciliation discrepancies.Strong compliance and audit readiness.Effective management of crypto treasury records and controls.Continuous improvement of accounting processes and reporting frameworks.
