Apply & track with Apply EdgeAbout the RoleAcclime is seeking a Financial Accountant to join our Melbourne team, supporting a portfolio of clients within our outsourced finance function and adding depth alongside our internal finance team.This role focuses on owning the month-end close process, ensuring financial data is accurate, complete and ready for reporting, while overseeing the delivery of day-to-day bookkeeping through junior and offshore team members.You will act as the link between transactional finance and reporting, taking ownership of financial integrity and providing clear, practical insights to clients and internal stakeholders. While the role is primarily review and oversight focused, you will be comfortable being hands-on where required, particularly during onboarding, clean-ups or transition periods.What you will be doing?Month-End CloseOwn the end-to-end month-end processPrepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, journals and adjustments (including accruals, prepayments, loans and provisions)Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting packs, including P&L variance analysis against budget/forecastProvide clear, practical commentary on key movements, risks and issues to finance leadershipBusiness PartneringPartner with department leads on performance, queries and variance explanationsSupport budgeting and forecasting cycles with accurate, timely inputsTranslate financial data into practical insight for non-finance stakeholders across the businessTeam Coordination & ReviewReview and direct work completed by junior or offshore team membersProvide feedback and maintain high-quality standardsDrive efficient workflows and support delegation of transactional work where appropriateAct as a second point of senior review alongside the Senior Financial Accountant, providing coverage and continuity across the teamReporting & ComplianceSupport preparation of statutory accounts and coordination with external auditors and tax advisorsEnsure financial records are maintained in line with Australian accounting standards and internal controlsHands-On SupportSupport process improvements and system enhancementsSupport clean-ups, transitions and process documentation as the finance function scalesWhat are we looking for?Essential5+ years’ experience in accounting role within an internal finance functionA bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.Strong experience owning month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations end-to-endStrong understanding of accounting principles, practices and procedures.Advanced Xero and strong Excel skillsEffective communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsHigh attention to detail and strong ownership mindsetDesirableCA/CPA (completed or in progress)Experience in a medium-sized business or within a broader corporate finance teamExposure to multi-entity, group consolidation or listed-entity reporting environmentsExperience supporting budgeting, forecasting or FP&A processesExperience in a multinational or cross-cultural work environmentExperience working with offshore teamsExposure to multi-entity or listed-entity reporting environmentsWhat makes this role a winner:Melbourne-based with flexible workingCollaborative, high-performing teamCareer growth opportunitiesProfessional membership supportAdditional leave including Birthday Leave and Wellness DayWe recognise that great candidates don’t always meet every requirement.
