Harry Maxwell is partnering with a major organisation within Australia’s construction and resources sector, an environment recognised for delivering complex civil works, large scale infrastructure and supporting development across mining and energy. We are seeking a Financial Accountant who will play a critical role in producing accurate, timely and meaningful financial reporting that supports operational performance and corporate decision making.This is a hands-on role suited to an accountant who thrives on ownership, precision and continuous improvement. You will work closely with the General Manager Finance and a peer Financial Accountant to deliver consolidated financial statements, maintain strong financial controls, manage statutory compliance and support budgeting, forecasting and corporate reporting. The role requires someone who actively analyses, reconciles, prepares and improves financial information rather than simply reviewing it.About the rolePrepare monthly consolidated profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow and supporting notesComplete timely balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepanciesMaintain fixed asset registers, capitalisation processes and monthly Capex reportingPerform daily bank reconciliations and ensure integrity of the general ledgerSupport external audit processes with accurate and timely informationAssist with internal financial control improvements and ERP system enhancementsMaintain the AASB 16 lease schedule including additions, modifications and disposals • Prepare monthly departmental overhead forecasts and assist with annual budgetingProvide financial information for tenders, project closeouts and Board reportingPrepare statutory returns including BAS, FBT, ABS surveys, payment times reporting and TPARSupport insurance renewals, corporate cost allocations and daily cash reportingEnsure bank payments meet cut off times and critical payments are managed appropriatelyContribute to continuous improvement, financial governance and cross functional collaborationKey requirementsTertiary qualification in Accounting or CommerceCA or CPA qualifiedMinimum five years’ experience in financial accounting within a commercial organisationStrong understanding of accounting standards, financial principles and ERP systemsAdvanced Excel capability and strong proficiency across MS OfficeHigh attention to detail with strong analytical and problem solving skillsExcellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments • Self motivated, proactive and able to manage competing prioritiesExperience in construction, resources or project-based environments is advantageous • Pragmatic, solutions focused and comfortable working with incomplete informationValues accuracy, integrity, continuous improvement and clear financial governance
