About the Role We’re looking for a highly organised and commercially minded finance professional to play a key role in supporting the financial health and success of the organisation. You’ll take ownership of core financial processes including month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations and year-end audit, ensuring our financial information is accurate, timely and insightful. You’ll also oversee corporate card and employee expenses, support tax and statutory reporting, and provide analysis that helps leaders make informed decisions. Key responsibilities include:Month-End Financial CloseLead and coordinate the monthly financial close process, ensuring accurate and timely completion of all month-end activities.Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and provisions.Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger.Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules.Manage intercompany reconciliations and ensure balances are accurately recorded and supported.Investigate, resolve and escalate accounting discrepancies and variances as required.Financial ReportingPrepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements, including Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reporting.Provide financial reporting and analysis to support Executive and Board reporting requirements.Prepare grant acquittals and funding reconciliations, ensuring expenditure is accurately recorded and aligned with funding requirements.Support the preparation of financial analysis and reporting to assist management decision-making.Audit & Year-EndCoordinate the year-end financial reporting and external audit process.Prepare audit workpapers, reconciliations and supporting schedules to facilitate the audit process.Liaise directly with external auditors and respond to audit requests and queries in a timely manner.Assist with the preparation of statutory financial statements and supporting documentation.Coordinate year-end reconciliations and the preparation and processing of audit adjustments.Corporate Cards & Employee ExpensesReview and reconcile corporate debit and credit card transactions to ensure accurate coding and appropriate supporting documentation.Review employee expense acquittals and ensure expenses are appropriately authorised, coded and supported.Follow up outstanding receipts, expense acquittals and supporting documentation.Prepare and complete monthly corporate card reconciliations.Tax & Financial CompliancePrepare BAS working papers and supporting documentation for lodgement.Support the preparation and administration of payroll tax requirements.Prepare the annual Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) return and supporting calculations.Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with relevant accounting, taxation and reporting requirements.About You We are looking for someone who possesses the following qualifications, skills and experience: QualificationsTertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.CPA or CA qualification, or working towards qualification, is desirable.Skills and Experience3-5 years’ experience in an accounting role, including month-end close and financial reporting.Strong technical accounting skills, including journals, reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and provisions.Experience supporting external audits and preparing audit workpapers.Understanding of Australian taxation and compliance requirements, including BAS, payroll tax and FBT.Strong Excel and financial systems capability.High level of accuracy, attention to detail and financial integrity.Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and work independently.Effective communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholdersAbility to work autonomously and demonstrate initiativeWorking as a team to achieve the organisations and teams’ objectives.Demonstrated alignment with NA values essential.Current Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance.Research shows that while men apply to jobs when they meet an average of 60% of the criteria, women and other marginalised groups tend to only apply when they check every box. Given the unique nature of the sports industry, and the domestic & global reach of our organisation, travelling and working outside of traditional office hours may be required.
