Financial AccountantAbout the CompanyThis is a growing, entrepreneurial business as it builds out its finance function from the ground up.About the RoleThis is a rare opportunity to be the first Senior/Financial Accountant hire for a growing, entrepreneurial business as it builds out its finance function from the ground up. Reporting directly to the founders, you'll play a foundational role in shaping how corporate accounting operates as the business scales. This is a hands-on accounting position for someone with 3 to 5 years' experience in Audit or a Business Services firm, ready to make the move in-house and grow with the organisation.ResponsibilitiesLead month-end close and financial reporting. You'll drive the close cycle from start to finish, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements and management reporting.Manage journals, reconciliations, and balance sheet items. You'll record and reconcile journal entries, complete account reconciliations, and maintain the integrity of the general ledger.Oversee invoice processing and controls. You'll ensure invoices are processed efficiently, validated for accuracy, and recorded correctly in the accounting system. You'll also review and strengthen controls around this process.Build as you go. As the first hire into this function, you'll have real input into how processes, systems, and controls are set up, rather than just inheriting someone else's way of doing things.Support fund and trust accounting activities.Support cashflow monitoring and forecasting.Support audit, compliance and regulatory reporting.QualificationsCA or CPA qualified (would consider part qualified if close to finishing)3 to 5 years' experience in an accounting role. Mid-tier or private practice experience would be ideal, giving you solid grounding in financial reporting, audit procedures, and accounting best practice.Required SkillsStrong technical accounting knowledge. You understand month-end close processes, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting standards. Detail-focused and organised.
