Financial ControllerConstructionSurrey – 5 days in the office£80-90k + benefitsAn established and growing construction firm in Surrey is looking to appoint a talented Financial Controller to take ownership of its finance function and provide high-quality financial insight to the Directors and wider senior management team.This is a hands-on, commercially focused position suited to someone who combines a strong technical skillset with the confidence to challenge, advise and improve.Key responsibilities as Financial Controller:Preparing monthly management accounts, statutory accounts, budgets and forecastsMonitoring actual performance against budget and providing clear variance analysisManaging cashflow and cashflow forecastingReviewing financial reports and ensuring accuracy across the finance functionProviding financial insight and recommendations to Directors and senior managementIdentifying opportunities to improve profitability, processes and financial performanceManaging relationships with accountants, auditors, banks, insurers and HMRCCoordinating audits and preparing supporting documentationEnsuring all tax obligations and statutory requirements are met accurately and on timeManaging and supporting the finance team, including workload planning and prioritisationReviewing payroll and maintaining accurate records of loans, advances and deductionsManaging fleet-related financial administration, including mileage, insurance and penaltiesMaintaining accurate financial records and documentationWorking closely with departments across the business to support effective financial managementResponding to Director queries and providing wider commercial supportProviding hands-on support and cover across the finance function when requiredIdeally, you’ll bring:Qualified accountant - ACA, ACCA, CIMAPrevious experience as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or Head of FinanceStrong experience across management accounts, budgeting, forecasting and cashflowA sound understanding of statutory accounts, taxation and financial complianceStrong commercial awareness with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insightConfidence working directly with Directors and senior stakeholdersExcellent organisational and communication skillsExperience within construction, property, engineering or another project-led environment would be highly desirableThis is a broad and influential finance role within an established business, offering the opportunity to take genuine ownership of the finance function and have a direct impact on the company's financial performance.
