📌 Job Title: Financial Crime Data Analyst - Banking - Contract📍 Location: UAE🕐 Employment type: Contract, 12–18 months🌍 Environment: Banking EnvironmentAbout the RoleWe are searching on behalf of our client for this role. This position is not with OVI.This is an opportunity to join a high-profile Financial Crime transformation programme where your expertise will directly influence the implementation and calibration of a new Customer Risk Assessment model. You will work alongside Financial Crime specialists and consulting professionals, ensuring that risk scoring methodologies are robust, data-driven and aligned with regulatory expectations.Key Responsibilities• Analyse the impact of a new Customer Risk Assessment (CRA) model by comparing existing and proposed customer risk ratings.• Perform detailed impact assessments to understand how changes to scoring logic and risk thresholds affect customer populations.• Support the calibration and optimisation of the Customer Risk Assessment model to ensure appropriate and proportionate risk outcomes.• Conduct above and below the line analysis around risk thresholds, validating customer classifications and identifying unexpected movements.• Analyse customer data, risk attributes, scorecards and weighting methodologies to ensure the model accurately reflects AML risk.• Work with Financial Crime SMEs to review customer risk factors, scoring logic and model outputs.• Manipulate large datasets using SQL, Python and Excel to identify trends, anomalies and data quality issues.• Produce clear analytical outputs and recommendations to support governance, regulatory remediation and business decision-making.• Present findings to Compliance, Financial Crime and programme stakeholders.• Support model validation, testing and implementation activities throughout the remediation programme.Your Profile• Proven experience working as a Data Analyst embedded within a Financial Crime, AML or Compliance function in a banking or financial services environment.• Experience supporting the implementation, analysis, validation or calibration of Customer Risk Assessment (CRA) or Customer Risk Rating (CRR) models.• Strong understanding of AML risk methodologies, customer risk scoring, risk factors and scorecard-based assessment models.• Experience analysing customer risk models, understanding how individual risk attributes contribute to overall customer risk classifications.• Experience performing threshold analysis, model impact assessments and validating changes to customer risk populations.• Strong SQL skills with experience extracting, manipulating and analysing large datasets.• Experience using Python and advanced Excel for data analysis and model validation.• Ability to communicate analytical findings to Financial Crime, Compliance and business stakeholders.What's Offered• Initial 12–18 month contract.• Opportunity to work on a high-profile Financial Crime transformation programme.• Collaborative environment with Financial Crime specialists and consulting professionals.Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will have strong technical data analysis capabilities combined with a genuine understanding of AML risk, customer risk scoring, and Financial Crime operating models.
