Job Summary We are seeking a Firmware Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of embedded firmware for inflight entertainment (IFE) audio systems and peripherals on commercial aircraft.This role is highly hands-on and will focus on low-level embedded development, real-time system behavior, and integration with audio, control, and communication interfaces. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in embedded C/C++, microcontroller-based systems, and hardware bring-up.You will work closely with electrical, acoustic, and mechanical teams. You will also interface with external manufacturing partners, to develop robust, production-ready firmware from concept through deployment.LocationPune, India – Occasional travel may be required. Summary of Role Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for microcontroller-based systemsDevelop IC drivers and HAL API for low-level interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, USB, etc.)Implement real-time control and communication systemsSupport audio-related firmware features including codec interfacing, DSP integration, and control logicBring up new hardware platforms and support board-level debuggingWork closely with hardware teams to validate schematics, PCB layouts, and system architectureDevelop and maintain firmware architecture, documentation, and coding standardsDebug and resolve system-level issues across hardware and firmware boundariesDevelop test tools and scripts to support validation and production testingSupport integration with higher-level systems and external interfacesWork closely with local contract manufacturers to support firmware bring-up during builds, assist with production test integration, and ensure smooth transition to manufacturingProvide ongoing support to manufacturing to troubleshoot firmware-related production issues and improve reliability and yieldGenerate technical documentation including requirements, specifications, and test reportsSupport qualification documentation and testing including environmental and EMI/EMC testingUndertake code reviews for merges, updates, fixes developed by other team membersManage source control, artifact versioning and configuration of both in-development and production firmwareWork with technical staff from third-party vendors to develop drivers, test SDKs, and implement APIs for ICsRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fieldMinimum five (5) years of relevant industry experienceStrong experience in embedded C/C++ developmentExperience working with microcontrollers (e.g., STM32 or similar)Experience with hardware interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, GPIO, ADC, etc.)Experience with debugging tools (JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers)Familiarity with real-time systems and embedded architecturesAbility to read schematics and work closely with hardware teamsAbility to do basic electronics calculations (work with voltages, currents and basic electronic components)Hands-on, self-motivated, and able to work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with internal teams and external manufacturing partnersDesired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Experience with audio systems, codecs, and digital audio interfaces (I2S, PDM, TDM)Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) or bare-metal developmentExperience with USB , ethernet or other communication systems in an embedded contextExperience with bootloaders, firmware update mechanisms, and version controlFamiliarity with Python or scripting for test and automationExperience with DSP concepts or integration with audio processing pipelinesKnowledge of aerospace standards such as DO-254, DO-178, or DO-160Experience with EMI/EMC and environmental testingProduct development experience from concept through production Educational RequirementsB.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fieldSupervisory ResponsibilitiesNonePhysical Requirements Must be able to remain in a stationary position for the majority of the workday. Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer).
