We have over 20 boats based in Devon and Cornwall including beam trawlers, netters, and potters. Our boats land regularly at Brixham, Newlyn, Salcombe and Exmouth.The OpportunityWe are looking for a fleet engineer to join our team at Brixham Fish Quay, providing marine engineering support to Waterdance vessels and shoreside stores.Key ResponsibilitiesTo maximise the operational efficiency of the Brixham based fishing vessels owned and co-owned by Waterdance Ltd through efficient engineering support. This will include:- Maintenance, repair, and upkeep, ensuring that all work is completed safely, and within agreed manufacturers recommendations- Liaising with owners, skippers, and suppliers on technical and operational matters- Assisting the Waterdance Senior Fleet Engineer to coordinate vessels refits and major maintenance periods to ensure best value and consistency of the business, and that the maintenance programme is primarily preventative- Providing reports including summaries of works performed- Identifying and sourcing technical and operational supplies required for the vessels and ensure the rates and terms provide best value- Ensuring, as far as is reasonably practical, that fishing vessels operate legally with respect to technical issues (to cover vessel engineering standards through MCA regulation and other relevant technical regulations e.g. LOLER and PUWER)- Assisting the Waterdance team to ensure that shoreside property meets current health and safety requirements. To include reporting incidents and near misses and striving to prevent and eliminate potential incidents.About You- Experienced in vessel maintenance, repair and engineering- Confident liaising with skippers, suppliers and other stakeholders- Organised and commercially aware- Knowledgeable of relevant maritime engineering, health and safety, and regulatory requirementsWorking Hours: Monday to Friday (40hpw)
