About NebulAt Nebul, we’re building Europe’s sovereign AI cloud: trusted, secure, and purpose-built for organizations that want to use AI without giving up control over their data, infrastructure, or strategic technology choices. Our platform gives clients the foundation to run AI workloads in a secure European environment. On top of that foundation, we help them turn AI ambition into working solutions: from internal knowledge assistants and automated workflows to agentic systems, RAG pipelines, AI-powered applications, and production-grade integrations with existing systems. We do not simply deliver technology and walk away. We work closely with clients to understand their business, onboard them properly onto our platform and solutions, explain what the technology can and cannot do, and translate their operational challenges into clear technical designs. Our forward-deployed teams sit at the intersection of engineering, consulting, product, and delivery. They help clients identify where AI can create real value, guide them through onboarding and adoption, and work hands-on with Nebul’s engineering teams to turn client needs into scalable, secure, production-ready systems. What You’ll Be DoingAs a Forward Deployed Engineer / Technical Consultant, you will work directly with Nebul’s clients to help them understand, adopt, and implement AI solutions in real-world environments. This is a client-facing, hands-on technical role. You will help clients understand what Nebul’s AI and cloud platform can do for them, guide them through onboarding, map their business processes, uncover practical AI opportunities, and translate those opportunities into technical solutions that can actually be built and deployed. You will often be the bridge between the client and Nebul’s internal engineering teams. That means listening carefully to business stakeholders, understanding their systems and constraints, challenging assumptions where needed, and turning sometimes vague business needs into clear technical requirements, architectures, workflows, and implementation plans. One day you may be running a discovery session with a client to understand their current workflows and data landscape. The next day you may be designing a RAG pipeline, building an AI workflow, integrating with APIs, explaining platform capabilities to a technical team, or working with Nebul engineers to shape a client-specific deployment. You will operate across discovery, onboarding, architecture, implementation, testing, and delivery. The goal is always the same: help clients move from AI strategy and experimentation to secure, useful, production-grade solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesWork directly with clients to understand their business processes, technical environments, challenges, and AI opportunities.Support client onboarding by explaining Nebul’s platform capabilities, AI solution options, technical requirements, security model, and implementation approach.Translate client needs into clear technical solution designs, implementation plans, delivery roadmaps, and internal engineering requirements.Help clients understand what AI-native systems can realistically do, where they create value, and what is required to bring them into production.Design and build forward-deployed AI systems tailored to client-specific environments, workflows, data sources, systems, and constraints.Develop AI-native applications using LLMs, agents, retrieval, automation, tool calling, and workflow orchestration.Build backend services, integrations, and orchestration layers using Python, Go, and where needed TypeScript.Implement LLM-powered workflows that integrate with client systems, APIs, databases, knowledge bases, and external tools.Advise clients on practical AI adoption, including use-case selection, feasibility, architecture, implementation approach, change management, and production readiness.Apply strong prompt engineering, model selection, evaluation, and observability practices to ensure reliable and predictable system behavior.Work hands-on with RAG, embeddings, vector databases, LLM observability, tracing, evaluation, and cost monitoring.Collaborate closely with Nebul’s platform, AI, security, product, and commercial teams to align client solutions with Nebul’s sovereign cloud infrastructure and AI platform capabilities.Support pilots, proof-of-value projects, onboarding tracks, and production deployments, while ensuring solutions are robust, secure, scalable, and maintainable.Act as a trusted technical partner to clients, bridging the gap between business stakeholders, technical teams, and Nebul’s internal experts.Continuously improve client onboarding, delivery methods, reusable components, best practices, and technical patterns for forward-deployed AI projects. What Your Day Will Not Look LikeWriting slide decks without being involved in implementation.Only giving high-level advice without building or delivering anything.Building isolated AI demos that never reach production.Working on traditional CRUD applications with limited AI or client impact.Sitting far away from the client problem. This role is hands-on, client-facing, and outcome-driven.What You BringExperience as a backend, full-stack, solutions, platform, or AI engineer. The ability to operate confidently in a client-facing role and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The ability to explain technical products, platform capabilities, AI concepts, and implementation trade-offs in a practical and understandable way.Hands-on experience with Python, plus working knowledge of Go and/or TypeScript.Experience building applications or workflows that integrate with LLMs, APIs, data sources, and external systems.A strong understanding of AI system design, agentic workflows, RAG, prompt engineering, and automation. The ability to translate ambiguous business problems into practical technical solutions.Comfort working in complex client environments with real-world constraints around security, data, systems, adoption, and change.A pragmatic engineering mindset: you know when to prototype, when to harden, and when to simplify.Strong ownership, curiosity, and the ability to drive work forward independently. The ability to build trust with clients while staying technically sharp and delivery-focused.Bonus Points If You HaveExperience in technical consulting, solution architecture, customer engineering, customer success engineering, or forward-deployed engineering.Experience onboarding clients onto technical platforms, AI products, cloud environments, or enterprise software solutions.Experience deploying AI systems on cloud-native or Kubernetes-based platforms.Familiarity with sovereign cloud, data security, compliance, or regulated environments.Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, PydanticAI, Langfuse, vector databases, or similar tools.Experience designing or implementing RAG pipelines, agentic systems, internal AI tooling, or workflow automation.Experience working with enterprise clients, complex integrations, or production AI deployments.Experience mentoring engineers or acting as a technical lead.Eligibility & Application InformationWe welcome non-native Dutch speakers to apply. However, to be eligible, you must:Have a valid work permit in the Netherlands.Reside in the Netherlands and be able to travel to the office near The Hague and to client locations when needed.Be fluent in English.
