Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) — Voice AI | GurgaonCallKaro AI | Onsite, Gurgaon | Six-month internship with full-time conversionWhat Is a Forward Deployed Engineer at CallKaro AI?We build Voice AI agents that handle over 5 million calls a month across 20+ languages.Getting that technology to work in a demo is one thing. Getting it to work inside a client’s actual business — with their workflows, edge cases, systems, and customers on the other end of the line — is a completely different problem. That second problem is the one we need you for.A Forward Deployed Engineer sits inside the client’s world. You learn how their business actually runs, shape our platform around it, and stay close enough to the deployment to catch a broken call flow before the client does. The role is part consultant, part engineer, and part founder.Your work directly influences whether a client renews, expands, and trusts us with more of their business. This is not a pure software engineering role. You will spend significant time with clients, understanding business workflows, debugging production deployments, analyzing call data, and translating real-world requirements into working AI systems. You need to enjoy both building technology and solving problems with people. What You Will Do* Own client onboarding end to end, from the first discovery call to the day the agents go live.* Sit with clients to understand their processes, then translate them into AI-powered call flows that hold up in production.* Write and refine LLM prompts that shape agent personas, conversation logic, guardrails, and escalation paths — including for Hindi, Hinglish, and regional-language calls.* Debug live production issues in real time by tracing call logs, reading transcripts, identifying failure points, and getting to the root cause quickly.* Analyze call volumes, conversion rates, drop-off points, and other performance metrics, then turn those insights into actions the client can take.* Build lightweight Python scripts and automations that connect our platform with client CRMs, APIs, and other systems.* Work closely with our product and engineering teams to communicate what clients actually need and advocate for features and fixes that can meaningfully improve their outcomes.* Document what you learn from each deployment so that the next implementation starts further ahead than the last one.* Be comfortable jumping between client conversations, debugging, data analysis, prompt engineering, and building depending on what the problem requires. What We Look ForMust-Have* You know enough Python to build integrations, write scripts, work with APIs, and debug API calls.* You have a working understanding of LLMs and prompt engineering, and can write prompts that produce reliable behavior rather than just impressive demos.* You are comfortable working with call data, dashboards, logs, transcripts, and metrics, and have the instinct to draw useful conclusions from them.* You can explain a technical problem to a non-technical client clearly without losing them.* You solve problems under pressure. When something breaks an hour before a client demo, you trace it to the root cause and fix it rather than escalating and waiting.* You have an entrepreneurial mindset and treat the client’s problem as your own.* You are comfortable with ambiguity. Startup priorities move faster than documentation, and you need to be able to figure things out without always having a playbook.* You communicate proactively. If something is blocked, you raise it. If something is broken, you take ownership of it.Good to Have* You have spent time at a startup in any function and understand what building from scratch feels like.* You have been exposed to conversational AI, chatbots, IVR systems, voice AI, or CRM platforms.* You have used Postman, Zapier, Make, or similar integration and automation tools.* You are familiar with cloud telephony or the WhatsApp Business API.* You have built personal projects, shipped products, or worked on something outside coursework that demonstrates how you think and build. The EngagementThis is a six-month, full-time internship, based onsite at our Gurgaon office. There is no remote or hybrid option. You should already be in Delhi NCR or be willing to relocate to Gurgaon for the internship.Freshers are welcome to apply. Prior experience is a plus, but it is not a requirement. What you have built matters more to us than how long you have been working.Compensation* Stipend: INR 25,000/month fixed* Performance bonus: Up to INR 5,000/month, variable and not guaranteed* Full-time conversion: Strong performers may be offered a full-time role after the internship* Expected full-time compensation: ₹7–8 LPA CTCFull-time conversion is subject to a structured performance review and is not automatic. The Mindset We Hire ForWe care less about where you studied and more about how you think. We want people who:* Ask why before how.* Communicate proactively instead of going quiet when something is stuck.* Ship something iterable rather than waiting for something perfect.* Take ownership instead of waiting to be told what to do.* Are comfortable getting their hands dirty with unfamiliar systems.* Are honest enough to flag what isn’t working, even when it is uncomfortable.* Care about the business outcome, not just whether the code works. This is a high-ownership role. You’ll be close to customers, close to the product, and close to the problems that matter. This seat is a strong place to start. Many of our strongest engineers and product people began here.
