Forward Deployed Engineer - AI / HealthcareLondon | £90k-£140k + Equity | 4/5x On-siteWe're partnering with a high-growth, VC-backed AI startup building technology to tackle one of healthcare's biggest operational challenges.The company is developing AI-powered products that automate complex administrative workflows within healthcare, helping overstretched teams spend less time on repetitive processes and more time focused on patient care.Following significant early customer traction, they're expanding their engineering team and hiring several Forward Deployed Engineers in London.The roleThis isn't a traditional software engineering position where you'll be handed a perfectly defined ticket and asked to implement it.You'll work closely with customers and internal product teams to understand messy, real-world problems, determine what should actually be built, and then take ownership of delivering the solution.You'll be responsible for:Building and shipping AI-powered workflows across the full stackWorking directly with users to understand complex operational problemsTurning ambiguous, non-technical requirements into robust technical solutionsTaking products from initial idea and prototype through to productionBringing customer insights back into the core productProactively identifying and fixing problems rather than waiting for them to be assignedContributing to engineering standards and technical decisions within a small, high-performing teamWhat we're looking forWe're particularly interested in strong software engineers with excellent product instincts.You'll ideally have:Strong commercial Python experienceExcellent software engineering fundamentalsExperience building and shipping production systemsEvidence of owning difficult technical problems end-to-endThe ability to operate effectively when requirements are ambiguousStrong communication skills and confidence working directly with customersExperience within a startup, scale-up or similarly high-ownership environmentA genuine interest in applying technology to meaningful healthcare problemsExperience with LLMs, agents, AI workflow automation or other production AI systems would be highly relevant, as well as strong software engineering and the ability to build products people actually use are more important.Tech: Python / FastAPI / Postgres / TypeScript / React.
