Forward Deployed Software Engineer📍 Hybrid working in either Seattle | Palo Alto | Washington DC | New York City | Denver💰 $135,000 to $200,000 + RSUs✈️ 25% to 75% travel🇺🇸 US Security Clearance eligibility requiredWe're working with a leading US technology company hiring a Forward Deployed Software Engineer to join a newly formed team building advanced Command and Control software for autonomous systems.This is a front-end-heavy engineering role working at the intersection of React, real-time data, AI and autonomous systems.You'll build software that brings together sensors, autonomous vehicles, AI-driven decision-making systems and mission-critical data into interfaces used in real-world operational environments.What you'll be doingBuild complex user-facing applications using React and TypeScriptDevelop Command and Control interfaces for autonomous systemsBuild interfaces that visualise live and streaming dataIntegrate with sensors, AI systems, APIs and robotic platformsDeploy software across cloud, on-premise and hybrid environmentsWork alongside specialists across AI, robotics, sensing and systems engineeringSolve integration challenges involving APIs, networking, security and authenticationOwn problems from development through integration and real-world deploymentWhat we're looking for2 to 6 years of professional software engineering experienceStrong React, TypeScript and JavaScript experienceClear front-end engineering experience and a desire to remain hands-onExperience building and maintaining production applicationsStrong API and systems integration skillsExperience with CI/CD and software deploymentComfortable working with LinuxStrong problem-solving skills in technically complex environmentsBachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or a related discipline or equivalent professional experienceGenuine interest in defence-related technologyEligible and willing to obtain a US Security ClearanceComfortable travelling 25% to 75%Particularly interesting experienceThree.js or other 3D JavaScript frameworksWebSockets and real-time dataComplex data visualisationMapping or geospatial applicationsRobotics or autonomous systemsDefence or aerospace technologySensors, telemetry or IoTDocker and KubernetesWhy consider it?This isn't a conventional front-end role.You'll be building software that connects the digital and physical worlds using real-time data, autonomous systems and AI with the opportunity to see your work deployed into genuine operational environments.For a strong React/TypeScript engineer who wants to work on technically difficult software with tangible real-world impact this is an opportunity worth exploring.
