We are now looking for the people who could become the founders of those companies.A NEW WAY TO BUILD BIOTECH IN SOUTH AFRICAMost biotech support begins once a company already exists. Our Venture Build starts earlier. Three Entrepreneurs in Residence work hands-on to find local IP with strong market potential, generate new ideas around problems worth solving, and build a pipeline of founders.Venture building has a strong track record in global biotech, and this is the first model of its kind in South Africa. We build companies from the inside, alongside the people who will lead them.THE ROLEAs a Founder in Residence you join the Venture Studio in a salaried position, teaming up with other Founders in Residence as co-founders to develop an opportunity from the ground up. You will:- Stress test problems, markets and competitive advantage- Evaluate and shape IP, from university and science council technology to entirely new concepts- Build the business case, team and company structure needed to attract investment- Pitch your venture for funding of up to R3 million to support its next stage of growth, then spin out and run the company yourselvesWHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR- Background: A traditional biotech background is not required. We welcome diverse backgrounds across the sciences, engineering, computational fields, business and more.- Experience: Mid-level, with a few years of working experience. Entrepreneurial experience, such as founding or helping to build a venture, is highly beneficial.- Location: Based in Cape Town, working from the OneBio Innovation Centre.- Mindset: You are eager to start and lead a biotech venture, not simply looking for a job.
