Founding AI Infrastructure Engineer | AI Startup | 4–7% equityNew York or San Francisco · In personI’m hiring the first infrastructure engineer for a venture-backed AI startup: someone who wants to set the architecture, build the core systems and help shape the engineering team.The founder is ex-Google and ex-Spotify, and previously co-founded a YC-backed startup.Funding is secured and the first customer agreements are signed.The team is building AI agents to run operations across real-world commerce. The technical challenge is making agents share context, coordinate across departments and reliably complete business workflows.You’ll own the infrastructure that makes that possible.You’ll:Design and build the core backend and distributed systems.Build the shared context and coordination layer connecting business data, workflows and agents.Make early architecture decisions across execution, integrations, reliability and compute.Work directly with the founder and founding team to bring customer workflows into production.Set engineering standards, with scope to recruit and lead the infrastructure team.I’m looking for strong hands-on backend or distributed systems experience, clear ownership of production systems and the judgment to build from an ambiguous brief.Competitive compensation, with 4–7% equity being discussed depending on the overall package.If you want founding-level ownership over the technology and a meaningful stake in the company, message me here or email sam.hesketh@generativegroup.ai.
