Founding Data Scientist

Authority is building the forecasting intelligence layer for the real world.We help asset owners and investors understand what is most likely to happen next across their portfolios, and where their current assumptions may be wrong.We’re looking for a Founding Data Scientist to work directly with customers and help turn Authority’s forecasting models into real decisions.This is a highly forward-deployed role. You’ll sit at the intersection of data science, product, customers, and data partnerships.What you’ll doWork directly with clients to map their portfolios of physical and non-financial assetsApply Authority’s forecasting models to real investment and risk decisionsBuild customer-specific data pipelines, features, and analysesHelp define which events and outcomes Authority should forecastTurn messy external and internal data into useful forecasting inputsIdentify and evaluate new datasets that could improve forecast accuracyBuild relationships with data providers and help grow Authority’s data partnership pipelineWork closely with the founders to shape the product from the ground upHelp turn successful customer work into scalable product featuresYou might be a fit ifYou’re strong in Python, statistics, machine learning, and data analysisYou’re excited to work in a VC-backed startup, and ideally have done so before.You can explain complex analysis simply to non-technical customersYou enjoy speaking to customers as much as building modelsYou’re commercially minded and interested in what actually drives better decisionsYou want unusually high ownership at an early-stage startupExperience in real estate, infrastructure, private markets, alternative data, forecasting, or geospatial data is a plus, but not required.Why joinYou’ll be one of the first people at Authority and will have significant influence over the product, data strategy, and company.
