Cinematic. This is not a traditional healthcare marketing role. You will have unusual access to our physicians, patients, clinics, technology, and team, and the creative freedom to find the stories inside them. Some films may follow a patient who has spent years living with a difficult disease and the moment they finally reach the right specialist. Some may explore why a physician has devoted their life to solving one of medicine’s hardest problems. Some may follow a cancer patient fighting to stay on treatment. Some may capture the quiet intensity of an appointment as a physician thinks through a difficult case. Some may show, almost invisibly, how AI is changing what a doctor can understand and accomplish in that room. Some may capture healing. Recovery. Confidence returning. Someone getting their life back. And some stories we haven’t imagined yet.We don’t want to make corporate videos. We want to make work that people choose to watch, remember, and act on, without sacrificing the humanity or craft of the story. That might mean a cinematic six-minute patient film. A 60-second physician story. A short campaign that brings someone with severe disease into care. A film that helps recruit an extraordinary doctor. A piece that makes a health-system leader understand Tono in two minutes. The medium and length can change. The standard cannot. Work that is cinematic. Intimate. Human. Beautiful. Sometimes intense. Always truthful. What You'll DoCapture the magic of medicine — the humanity, connection, intensity, healing, and transformation that happen between patients and physiciansFind extraordinary stories unfolding across Tono’s patients, physicians, clinics, partners, and technologySpend time inside medicine and recognize moments others would missDirect intimate, documentary-style interviewsShoot beautiful, cinematic footage in clinical and real-world settingsEdit longer-form films with exceptional narrative structure, pacing, sound, and restraintCreate films about patients, physicians, complex disease, new therapies, technology, and the changing practice of medicineUnderstand the audience and objective behind each story — whether the goal is to move a patient, recruit a physician, win a partner, build the Tono brand, or simply make something worth watchingTranslate flagship storytelling into high-performing short-form, campaign, website, and social creative without making it feel like advertisingTurn major shoots into a broader library of films, cutdowns, photography, and creative assetsEstablish a distinctive visual and storytelling language for TonoCreate physician portraits, patient stories, recruiting films, partnership stories, and brand filmsCapture photography and video for our website, communications, campaigns, and physical spacesDevelop original treatments and creative concepts rather than simply executing briefsEarn the trust of patients and physicians and help people be themselves on cameraBring in cinematographers, sound engineers, colorists, composers, and other specialists when a story warrants itMove quickly and resourcefully — knowing when a story deserves a larger production and when the best answer is to pick up a camera and make somethingOver time, help build a larger editorial and filmmaking platform around the future of medicineWho we are looking forYou might be an independent documentary filmmaker, director/editor, cinematographer, journalist, branded-documentary filmmaker, or producer who wants to take ownership of an entire creative world. You should have:Exceptional visual tasteA portfolio that demonstrates powerful human storytellingStrong documentary interviewing instinctsThe ability to find the emotional center of a storyExcellent shooting and editing skillsA sophisticated understanding of pacing, sound, music, and narrativeThe judgment to know when less is moreThe resourcefulness to create exceptional work without requiring a large production crewThe empathy and maturity to work with people during vulnerable moments in their livesDeep curiosity about medicine, science, technology, and peopleHigh standards for your craftThe desire to pioneer something rather than inherit a playbookThe ambition to make work that mattersExperience in healthcare is not required. We are particularly interested in people coming from documentary film, branded entertainment, commercial filmmaking, journalism, editorial video, independent filmmaking, or exceptional in-house creative teams who want to bring a fundamentally different creative standard to medicine. What this is not This is not a social media manager position. It is not a high-volume content-production job.It is not a corporate video role. And it is not a job where every story begins with a marketing brief. We want someone who can walk into a room, understand what actually matters, and find the film inside it.How to apply Please send:2–3 pieces of work you are most proud ofA short note about why this opportunity interests youYour specific role on each projectYour portfolio or websiteYour resumeCompensation and BenefitsTarget Salary: $130,000–$160,000, commensurate with experienceFounding-team equityMedical benefitsPriority access for your family to leading dermatologist and regular cosmetic nights at our flagship clinicLocation: New York City, on-site
