Role DescriptionWe are seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive Fraud Prevention Specialist to identify, investigate, prevent, and mitigate fraudulent activities that may impact customers, transactions, financial assets, and business operations. The successful candidate will monitor transactions and account activity, analyze suspicious patterns, investigate potential fraud, support fraud prevention strategies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to reduce financial and operational risks.Key responsibilities include monitoring transactions, accounts, payments, applications, and customer activity for unusual or suspicious behavior; reviewing fraud alerts and investigating potentially fraudulent transactions, accounts, identities, and activities; analyzing transaction patterns, behavioral indicators, device information, geographic signals, account relationships, and other relevant data to identify fraud risks; conducting case investigations and documenting findings, evidence, decisions, and recommended actions; escalating confirmed or high-risk cases in accordance with established procedures; supporting the development, implementation, and optimization of fraud detection rules, controls, thresholds, and monitoring processes; collaborating with risk management, cybersecurity, compliance, legal, payments, customer support, and financial crime teams to coordinate fraud prevention and response activities; identifying emerging fraud trends, attack patterns, social engineering techniques, account takeover attempts, payment fraud, identity fraud, application fraud, and other forms of financial crime; analyzing historical fraud data to identify recurring patterns and opportunities for control improvements; supporting the testing and tuning of fraud detection models, risk scoring systems, machine learning solutions, and automated monitoring tools; preparing fraud reports, dashboards, trend analyses, investigation summaries, and management recommendations; supporting customer and business protection measures while balancing fraud controls with legitimate customer experience; maintaining accurate case records and ensuring investigations are handled consistently and confidentially; participating in fraud risk assessments, control reviews, internal investigations, and process improvement initiatives; supporting the implementation of artificial intelligence, machine learning, behavioral analytics, device intelligence, biometric technologies, and automation to strengthen fraud detection capabilities; and staying informed about emerging fraud methodologies, digital payment risks, identity threats, cyber-enabled fraud, regulatory developments, and global fraud prevention practices.The Fraud Prevention Specialist is expected to combine investigative judgment, data analysis, and strong attention to detail to protect the organization and its customers from fraudulent activity. Success in this role requires analytical thinking, sound decision-making, effective communication, confidentiality, adaptability, and a strong commitment to risk reduction and customer protection.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.Strong understanding of fraud prevention, transaction monitoring, financial risk, identity verification, payment security, and fraud investigation principles.Knowledge of fraud typologies including payment fraud, account takeover, identity theft, application fraud, card fraud, online fraud, social engineering, phishing-enabled fraud, and synthetic identity fraud.Familiarity with transaction monitoring, fraud detection platforms, case management systems, customer verification tools, risk scoring systems, and identity intelligence solutions.Strong analytical skills with the ability to review large volumes of transactional and behavioral data and identify unusual patterns or anomalies.Familiarity with SQL, Excel, Python, data visualization tools, or similar technologies for fraud analysis and reporting is advantageous.Understanding of risk-based controls, fraud detection rules, alert management, investigation workflows, and fraud prevention strategies.Strong investigative, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document investigation findings clearly and communicate risks to relevant stakeholders.Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professional judgment.Ability to collaborate effectively with risk, compliance, cybersecurity, payments, operations, customer service, legal, and technology teams.Knowledge of artificial intelligence, machine learning, behavioral analytics, biometric verification, device fingerprinting, anomaly detection, and automated fraud prevention technologies is advantageous.Familiarity with relevant financial crime, data protection, payment security, and regulatory requirements is beneficial.Professional certifications such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Certified Financial Crime Specialist (CFCS), or equivalent qualifications are considered advantageous but are not mandatory.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple investigations, alerts, priorities, and reporting requirements.Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and staying informed about emerging fraud techniques, digital payment threats, artificial intelligence, financial technology, cybersecurity developments, and global fraud prevention best practices.
