Team members join a mission-driven environment dedicated to empowering learners to succeed.Role Description The Freelance Academic Counselor is responsible for providing remote, individualized academic and career guidance to students and other learners. Day-to-day tasks include conducting virtual counseling sessions, assessing academic strengths and challenges, and helping learners set realistic educational and career goals. The counselor will advise on course selections, study strategies, and skill development pathways that align with learners’ aspirations. The role also involves collaborating with The Learning Haven team to design or refine guidance materials and resources, maintaining accurate documentation of counseling interactions, and offering ongoing support through scheduled check-ins. This is a freelance, remote role that offers flexible hours while requiring reliable availability for online sessions.Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in student-focused guidance, including Student Counseling and Academic Advising skills.Strong background in career-focused support, with practical experience in Career Counseling and Education planning.Excellent Communication skills, including active listening, clear written communication, and the ability to explain complex information in accessible terms.Relevant academic or professional background in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Career Services, or a related field.Experience working with diverse age groups (students, graduates, job seekers, professionals) in an advisory or mentoring capacity.Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple learners, and maintain confidentiality and professional ethics.Comfort with digital tools and online platforms used for virtual sessions, scheduling, and documentation.Certification or formal training in academic or career counseling is an advantage.
