Role DescriptionThe Freight Forwarding Export Manager at Express Global is a full-time, on-site role based in Hoboken, NJ. The role involves overseeing end-to-end export operations, including booking shipments, coordinating freight transportation, preparing export documentation, and ensuring compliance with international trade regulations. The manager will collaborate with carriers, customs brokers, and internal teams to secure competitive rates, optimize routing, and meet customer delivery timelines. Day-to-day responsibilities include responding to customer inquiries, resolving shipment issues, monitoring cargo status, and maintaining accurate records within company systems. This role also requires analyzing operational performance, implementing process improvements, and providing guidance to team members to ensure efficient and reliable export services.QualificationsStrong knowledge of freight forwarding and forwarding operations, with the ability to manage complex export logistics.Hands-on experience with export procedures and documentation, including familiarity with international regulations and compliance requirements.Customer service skills, with a focus on clear communication, issue resolution, and maintaining positive client relationships.Understanding of freight transportation options and routing, including ocean, air, and ground modes, and related cost and transit time considerations.Relevant experience in freight forwarding or logistics management, preferably in an export-focused environment.Ability to work on-site in Hoboken, NJ, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and manage multiple priorities under time constraints.Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.Proficiency with logistics and office software tools; experience with freight management systems is a plus.Associate or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.Duties Include but not limited to: • Responsible for overseeing all export documentation, Customer Services and Carrier/NVOCC contact with the suppliers to ensure timely freight pick-up • Oversee all functions of the export department for both Ocean and Air • Handling of all Traffic and Break-bulk consolidations. • Prepare Bill of Ladings, submitting Shipping Instructions to Carriers, filing AES, checking Letter of Credits, if any, and arranging for inland transportation before shipments’ cut-off dates • Approve invoices and negotiate cost effective rates with NVOCC’s / Ocean Carriers • Negotiate with vendors to obtain maximum profitability. • Respond to any rate request from clients and oversea agents. • Coordinate new export bookings with oversea agents • Assist in the sales process with existing and potential clients and shippers • Handle heavy volume of emails including all communications with suppliers and shippers. • Billing and closing files in a timely manner. • Provide activity reports to clients and to management, manage and plan the logistics flow of customer’s export shipments. • Provide weekly and monthly export shipments reports• Direct operational activities to ensure all shipments are processed quickly and smoothly. • Report weekly to the President of the Company • Generating and qualifying leads, managing the sales pipeline, and using phone and email to communicate with customers / shippers to understand needs and offer solutions • Generating new businesses for the companies • Key responsibilities involve product demonstrations, negotiating pricing and contracts with shipping lines and their party suppliers, closing deals to meet revenue goals, and maintaining CRM records.
