You'll work on the surfaces employees rely on every shift: push notifications, offline-tolerant scheduling views, check-in/out, and chat — and you'll be the person who steps in when a bug lives below the JS bridge. This is a startup role. We're looking for someone who can take a loosely-defined problem, figure out the right approach with minimal hand-holding, and drive it to done. You'll get real ownership and real ambiguity — ideally at the same time. What You'll DoBuild and maintain features in our Expo/React Native app (mobile), from UI down to native module integration.Write and debug JSI/TurboModule and native module code (iOS/Android) where Expo's managed APIs aren't enough.AI-assisted engineering: You use AI agents (Claude, MCP-based tooling) as a core part of your daily workflow for writing, debugging and testing code - this isn’t optional tooling, it’s how the team works.Own performance-sensitive flows — list rendering, animations, cold-start time — and profile/fix issues at the native bridge layer.Implement and harden push notifications (expo-notifications), deep linking, and background/foreground behavior, including cold-start deep links into chat.Manage Expo SDK upgrades and native dependency compatibility (e.g., RCTModuleProvider / native module conformance issues).Maintain EAS build and CI/CD workflows, including automated test pipelines in EAS Workflows.Write Jest/React Native Testing Library coverage for hooks, screens, and native module wrappers.Triage and resolve crash and stability issues surfaced through Sentry.Collaborate with backend engineers on the mobile-facing REST/OpenAPI contract and with design on native-feeling UI patterns — often starting from only a rough spec. What We're Looking For4+ years of professional React Native experience, including apps built or ejected from Expo (bare workflow, config plugins, or EAS Build).Hands-on experience with JSI, TurboModules, or writing native modules in Swift/Objective-C and Kotlin/Java.Strong TypeScript and React fundamentals; comfort debugging across the JS/native boundary (Xcode, Android Studio, Flipper/React Native DevTools).Experience with push notification systems, deep linking, and background task handling on iOS and Android.Familiarity with mobile CI/CD (EAS Workflows, Fastlane, or similar) and app store release processes.Startup mindset: A self-starter who works well independently and is genuinely comfortable with ambiguity — you don't need a fully-scoped ticket to make progress, and you're willing to make a call and adjust rather than wait for perfect clarity.Practical testing instincts — Jest, React Native Testing Library, and a bias toward catching regressions before they ship.Comfortable working from a REST/OpenAPI contract shared with a Python/FastAPI backend and a Next.js web app.Nice to HaveExperience with Reanimated, Skia, or other native-driven animation libraries.Experience instrumenting and triaging crash/performance data in Sentry or similar tools.Familiarity with Next.js/React/TypeScript for occasional cross-platform (web) contributions. Background building consumer or field-worker apps at meaningful scale.Prior experience at an early-stage startup, where you owned a surface end-to-end with little existing precedent. Our StackMobile: Expo (SDK 57), React Native, TypeScript, JSI/TurboModules · Backend: Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL · Web: Next.js 15, React 19, TypeScript · Infra: AWS, EAS Build/Workflows, Sentry · Testing/CI: Jest, GitHub Actions, EAS test pipelines
