Frontend Software Engineer (React and TypeScript/JavaScript) (1 Year Contract)

About the RoleWe are looking for a Frontend Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain responsive, accessible, and high-quality customer-facing digital applications.You will work within a Client Experience (CX) team to build seamless digital journeys, translating product and user requirements into intuitive frontend experiences. The role will focus on modern frontend development, reusable component design, API integration, usability, accessibility, performance, and automated testing.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain responsive and accessible customer-facing web applications using React, TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.Build reusable and maintainable UI components and frontend application features.Implement frontend service interactions, form validation, state management, error handling, and other application logic.Integrate frontend applications with RESTful APIs, authentication flows, and secure API consumption patterns.Optimise applications for performance, mobile responsiveness, browser compatibility, accessibility, and usability.Develop and maintain unit, component, end-to-end, and regression tests to ensure frontend quality and reliability.Adopt and contribute to reusable component libraries and design systems to maintain consistency across digital products.Troubleshoot frontend and production issues and continuously improve application performance and user experience.Participate in code reviews, source control, CI/CD, and secure software development practices.Collaborate closely with product owners, designers, backend engineers, QA engineers, and other stakeholders in an Agile delivery environment.Support production monitoring and iterative improvements based on user feedback and application performance.RequirementsDegree or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.3–5 years of relevant experience in frontend software development.Strong hands-on experience with React and TypeScript/JavaScript.Strong knowledge of HTML and CSS, including responsive web development and modern frontend development practices.Experience designing and developing reusable UI components and maintainable frontend architectures.Experience integrating frontend applications with RESTful APIs and authentication mechanisms.Good understanding of state management, frontend validation, error handling, and secure API consumption.Experience with frontend testing, including unit, component, end-to-end, and/or regression testing.Good understanding of web accessibility, usability, browser compatibility, and frontend performance optimisation.Familiarity with design systems and component libraries.Familiarity with Git/source control, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development practices.Exposure to cloud or container-based deployment, application monitoring, and secure development practices would be advantageous.Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
