The role is suited for an engineer who enjoys taking ownership of a feature from an incomplete requirement through development, release and continuous improvement.Mandatory: Hands-on experience integrating AI or LLM services into production applications is required. Candidates with only academic, experimental or personal-project experience with AI/LLMs will not be considered.You should understand that building an AI feature involves more than connecting an API. It requires structured outputs, validation, evaluation, error handling, security, monitoring and cost management.ResponsibilitiesDesign and build responsive web applications using React.js, Next.js or similar frameworks.Develop backend services and REST APIs using Node.js, Express.js or similar technologies.Own features from technical design through development, testing, deployment and production monitoring.Design data models and queries for SQL or NoSQL databases.Integrate external APIs with authentication, validation, retries, rate-limit handling and logging.Build AI-assisted features using LLM APIs, embeddings, retrieval, tool calling or workflow orchestration.Implement prompt versioning, structured responses, output validation, guardrails and fallback mechanisms.Evaluate AI output quality and monitor latency, token usage and cost.Write and maintain unit, integration and end-to-end tests.Investigate production issues, identify root causes and implement reliable fixes.Improve application performance, reliability, security and observability.Review code and contribute to technical architecture and release decisions.Work closely with product, design, QA and engineering teams to resolve requirements and delivery risks.Required Experience3–4 years of full-stack development experience.Strong fundamentals in JavaScript and TypeScript.Production experience with React.js, Next.js or a similar frontend framework.Production experience with Node.js, Express.js and REST APIs.Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB or a similar database.Hands-on experience integrating AI or LLM services into production applications or workflows.Understanding of prompt design, structured outputs, retrieval, evaluation, guardrails and human review.Experience with Git, automated testing, application security, deployment and production debugging.Ability to convert incomplete requirements into a technical plan and deliver with limited supervision.Strong problem-solving skills and clear written and verbal communication.Preferred ExperienceDocker and CI/CD pipelines.AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform.SaaS, workflow or enterprise application development.Vector databases and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).LLM observability or evaluation frameworks.Queue-based processing, caching or event-driven systems.Ownership ExpectationsAt Troopd, you will be responsible for the outcome of a feature, not just its implementation.This includes understanding requirements, documenting technical trade-offs, identifying failure cases, coordinating dependencies, shipping safely, monitoring production behaviour and following through on issues after release.Why Troopd?Troopd is building Agentic Colleagues that take ownership of defined business roles and execute the work associated with them.You will be joining at an early stage, where the engineering team has a direct impact on the product, architecture and technology choices.
