About Education JapanEducation Japan helps students discover meaningful career and higher-education pathways, with particular expertise in opportunities connected to Japan.The opportunityBuild reliable product features across counsellor workspaces, student and parent journeys, assessments, reporting and partner-facing capabilities.ResponsibilitiesDevelop accessible, responsive web interfaces and well-structured backend APIs.Implement workflows for onboarding, questionnaires, consent, counsellor notes, recommendations and reports.Build role-aware permissions, validation, error handling and audit-friendly changes.Write unit, integration and end-to-end tests and participate actively in code reviews.Instrument features for product analytics and operational monitoring.Work closely with design, AI and data colleagues to integrate models safely into user journeys.Improve performance, maintainability and developer experience as the product grows.Experience3+ years delivering production web applications.Strong ability in React/Next.js or an equivalent frontend framework and TypeScript.Backend experience with Python/FastAPI, Node.js/NestJS or a comparable framework.Working knowledge of SQL, API design, authentication, Git and automated testing.Ability to turn user stories and designs into polished, dependable product behavior.Good to haveAzure, PostgreSQL, component libraries, accessibility (WCAG) and CI/CD.Experience with multi-tenant SaaS, LLM integrations, notifications or document/report generation.Exposure to privacy-sensitive or education products.What success looks like in the first 6 monthsUsers complete priority journeys with low error rates and clear feedback.Features are tested, observable and delivered without accumulating avoidable rework.You independently own meaningful product areas while collaborating effectively across disciplines.Why joinShape foundational architecture, product practices and responsible-AI standards from an early stage.Work across education, career intelligence, data and applied AI in a mission-led team.How to applyShare your resume and links to code, products or a concise case study showing what you personally built.Education Japan is an equal-opportunity employer.
