Apply & track with Apply EdgeMackie Search has partnered with a leading IT Firm in the Austin, Texas area to lead a search for their Full Stack EngineerFull-Stack Engineer (job description)The OpportunityWe are looking for a Full-Stack Engineer to join the internal Product Development team and help build and evolve the technology behind our building-intelligence and field-service platform.This role works across multiple areas of the application stack — including user-facing web applications, APIs, backend services, databases, integrations, and cloud-hosted applications.You'll work closely with our technical and product leadership and collaborate with mobile, data, AI, and external engineering resources.We're not looking for someone with an oversized list of technologies on their résumé. We're looking for a capable engineer who understands software fundamentals, learns quickly, works well with others, and wants to take increasing ownership of meaningful product capabilities.What We're Looking ForApproximately 3–5 years of relevant software development experience.Experience developing and supporting production web applications.Experience with a modern frontend framework such as React.Ability to develop, consume, and troubleshoot RESTful APIs and backend services.Experience with a modern backend programming language or framework; Python experience is preferred.Working knowledge of PostgreSQL or similar relational databases and data modeling.Understanding of authentication, application security, and system integrations.Familiarity with cloud-hosted infrastructure; GCP experience is preferred, though AWS or Azure experience is applicable.Experience with Git-based development and modern deployment practices.Understanding software testing, debugging, and production support.Ability to navigate an existing codebase and learn unfamiliar technologies.What You'll DoDesign, develop, test, and maintain web applications, APIs, and backend services.Develop features across multiple areas of the application stack.Work with technical and product leadership to translate product requirements into practical software solutions.Build and maintain APIs supporting mobile applications, web applications, data services, and external integrations.Work with relational databases and data-driven application workflows.Support integrations between company and customer or third-party platforms.Help modernize existing platform capabilities while maintaining appropriate interoperability with legacy systems.Troubleshoot production issues across application, API, database, and cloud layers.Participate in code reviews, testing, documentation, deployment, and continuous improvement.Collaborate closely with Mobile Engineering, Data/AI resources, and external development partners.Contribute technical ideas and perspective during product development and roadmap discussions.Use AI-assisted engineering tools where appropriate to accelerate development, testing, documentation, and problem solving.Help build shared technical documentation and institutional knowledge around the company platform.We're looking for an engineer who:Takes ownership of outcomes rather than simply completing assigned tasks.Can work effectively without every requirement being completely defined.Seeks to understand the business problem before immediately jumping into code.Is comfortable moving between frontend, backend, database, and integration challenges.Communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical team members.Raises questions and risks early rather than waiting until they become problems.Makes practical technical decisions without unnecessarily overengineering solutions.Learns new technologies and systems quickly.Accepts accountability for the quality of their work.Collaborates well with internal engineers and external development partners.Wants to continue developing technically while taking increasing ownership of the platform.
