We know that a workforce reflecting the richness of our communities and customers helps us better serve their needs.We are looking for a Full Stack Engineering Team Lead to provide day-to-day technical direction to a full stack engineering team while remaining close to the code.This is a hands-on, player-coach role for someone who can turn product priorities into practical technical plans, guide sound architecture decisions, and help engineers deliver reliable software with confidence.You will work across front-end, back-end, cloud, and infrastructure components, balancing immediate delivery needs with the long-term quality, security, maintainability, and scalability of the platform.What You’ll Do (Essential Responsibilities):Lead the team’s day-to-day technical direction and support delivery against agreed prioritiesContribute hands-on to the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of production softwareGuide architecture and design decisions across front-end, back-end, cloud, and infrastructure componentsBreak down complex initiatives into clear, actionable technical work and help the team estimate effort and dependenciesMentor engineers, facilitate technical discussions, and help colleagues strengthen their engineering capabilitiesReview code and reinforce engineering standards for quality, maintainability, scalability, security, observability, and testingPartner with Product, Engineering, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and translate them into practical technical solutionsIdentify risks, blockers, and dependencies early, communicate them clearly, and drive appropriate actionImprove development practices, tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and the team’s ways of workingPromote ownership throughout the application lifecycle, including deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production supportBuild a collaborative culture grounded in accountability, knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and Mitek’s values of Delivering, Learning, and CaringWhat You'll Need (Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities): Significant professional software engineering experience, including experience leading technical work or mentoring other engineersStrong back-end development experience. Production experience with Go would be highly desirableStrong experience with JavaScript and single-page application frameworks, particularly ReactA track record of designing and delivering production-grade full stack applicationsA strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, distributed systems, and modern application development practicesExperience building clean, maintainable, production-hardened code and writing unit, integration, and performance testsExperience with Amazon Web Services. Exposure to services such as S3, SQS, ECS, EC2, and Lambda would be particularly relevantProficiency with Git, collaborative software development workflows, code reviews, and modern engineering practicesThe ability to translate business and product requirements into practical technical solutionsStrong troubleshooting and analytical skills, including the ability to guide the resolution of complex production issuesProfessional fluency in written and spoken English, with the ability to build alignment across technical and non-technical stakeholdersA bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experienceWhat Would be Nice (Preferred Skills & Experience): TypeScript, Redux, HTML, CSS, and template engines such as Freemarker or ThymeleafExperience with non-relational databases such as MongoDB, DocumentDB, or RavenDBExperience provisioning cloud infrastructure through code using CloudFormation, Terraform, or a comparable technologyNPM or a comparable package manager and Cypress or similar front-end testing toolsExperience designing distributed systems using serverless technologies or microservices architecturesBash scripting and familiarity with Java, Groovy, or PythonExperience working in Agile teams and coordinating delivery across several technical or business stakeholdersPrevious experience as a Technical Lead, Team Lead, Lead Engineer, or in a similar player-coach roleWhat Success Looks Like:You will be successful in this role when:The team consistently delivers reliable, high-quality software against clear prioritiesArchitecture and technical decisions are pragmatic, documented, and understood by the people who need to act on themRisks, blockers, and dependencies are identified early and handled constructivelyEngineers receive the guidance, context, and support they need to work effectively and continue developingThe platform becomes easier to maintain, operate, secure, and scale while the team continues delivering customer valueLIFE AT MITEKAt Mitek, meaningful work and practical impact matter.
