DTI offers a professional, learner-centered environment for educators seeking to contribute to the development of skilled technical professionals.Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Harare, Zimbabwe for a Lecturer in Electrical Power Engineering. The lecturer will plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons in electrical power engineering, including power systems, machines, protection, and related subjects, in line with institutional and national curricula. Daily responsibilities include preparing teaching materials, conducting lectures and practical sessions, supervising laboratory work and workshops, and providing academic support and mentoring to learners. The role also involves setting and marking assignments and examinations, maintaining accurate academic records, and contributing to curriculum development and continuous improvement of training programs. The lecturer will collaborate with colleagues on program coordination, participate in quality assurance activities, and engage with industry stakeholders to maintain relevance of course content and support learners’ transition to employment.Qualifications Strong knowledge of Electrical Power Engineering, including power generation, transmission and distribution, electrical machines, power systems analysis, and protection.Experience with practical training and laboratory/workshop instruction, including safe use of electrical equipment, diagnostic techniques, and industry-standard tools and practices.Proven teaching, mentoring, or training skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and adapt teaching methods to diverse learning needs.Familiarity with competency-based education, curriculum development, and alignment with industry and national certification standards.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong classroom management, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary academic team.Relevant academic qualification in Electrical Power Engineering or closely related field (minimum of a bachelor’s degree; a higher degree or professional registration is an advantage).Industry experience in electrical power or related sectors, and familiarity with current technologies, regulations, and safety standards.Commitment to learner-centered education, continuous professional development, inclusive teaching practices, and ethical conduct.
