The Research Assistant will conduct experimental and/or theoretical research under the guidance of a faculty advisor, including designing studies, collecting data, and performing laboratory or computational work as appropriate to the discipline. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing scholarly literature, developing research methodologies, analyzing and interpreting data, and preparing manuscripts, conference presentations, and progress reports. The role also involves collaborating with research team members, maintaining accurate records of research activities, and participating in seminars, group meetings, and departmental events. The position includes support for doctoral coursework and dissertation research, as well as opportunities for professional development, teaching assistance, and academic networking.QualificationsStrong Research and Laboratory Skills, with the ability to design experiments, follow protocols, and document procedures accurately.Excellent Analytical Skills and Data Analysis capabilities for interpreting results, using appropriate statistical or computational tools, and drawing sound conclusions.Effective Communication skills, including clear scientific writing and the ability to present research findings to diverse academic audiences.Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, physical sciences, life sciences, social sciences, or related discipline).Demonstrated interest in pursuing a PhD, with motivation for independent research and long-term academic or research-focused career goals.Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and manage time and tasks responsibly in a full-time on-site research environment.Prior research experience, publications, conference presentations, or familiarity with research software and tools (e.g., statistical packages, programming languages) is beneficial.How to Apply: Please submit your resume and transcript to Prof. Xingwei Wang at xingwei_wang@uml.edu
