Gas Turbine / Steam Turbine Controls Outage Engineer( Field Engineer / Technical Advisor)Location: Dubai, UAE (home base) – field-based role with extensive international travelTravel: 60-80% of the year; short notice mobilization to outage and call-out sitesReports to: Field Service Team LeaderEmployment type: Full-timeRole SummaryDeveEnergy is seeking an experienced Controls Outage Engineer (Field Engineer / Technical Advisor) to serve as the company's on-site authority for gas and steam turbine control systems during outages, inspections, installations, and commissioning activities. You will independently manage controls scope on customer sites worldwide — troubleshooting, configuring, and validating turbine control and protection systems, and acting as DeveEnergy's direct technical point of contact with client operations, instrumentation, and controls teams. Beyond outage execution, you will also support back-engineering and technical planning for controls-related modifications, uprates, and upgrades — helping DeveEnergy scope and de-risk these projects before they reach site. This role suits a self-sufficient field engineer who is comfortable being the sole controls resource on-site, exercising sound engineering judgment without a large back-office team to lean on.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the lead controls resource during HGPI, major inspections, installation & commissioning, and outage execution on GE heavy-duty gas turbines and associated steam turbine / generator auxiliaries.Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve faults on Mark V, Mark VI, and Mark VIe turbine control and protection systems, including sequencing, protection logic, and HMI issues.Configure, back up, and restore control system application code; support TIL (Technical Information Letter) implementation and control system software/firmware updates.Review and work from P&IDs, elevation drawings, logic and loop diagrams, and OEM technical documentation (GEK, GN, EM, TIL, PSSB series) to plan and execute controls scope.Inspect, troubleshoot, and validate turbine auxiliary and protection systems: lube oil, hydraulic, fuel gas/liquid skids, fire & gas detection, and vibration monitoring (e.g., Bently Nevada).Lead pre-outage controls readiness assessments and post-outage startup, commissioning, and performance verification.Support back-engineering of legacy or poorly documented control system architecture, logic, and I/O configurations — producing as-built records and technical basis documentation to inform planned modifications, uprates, and control system upgrade scopes.Contribute controls-side technical input to modification, uprate, and upgrade project planning, including migration/retrofit sequencing, obsolescence assessment, and scope definition.Act as DeveEnergy's direct technical liaison with client operations, instrumentation, and controls personnel on-site — representing the company independently and making field-level decisions under DeveEnergy's HSE and quality framework.Produce field service reports, TIL closure records, and inspection documentation in line with DeveEnergy's quality standards.Provide technical input to the commercial team during outages and controls-related proposal development and cost estimation.Mentor other engineers on controls fundamentals during outages; support DeveEnergy's ongoing inspection and controls documentation framework.Maintain full compliance with DeveEnergy and client HSE, permit-to-work, and quality procedures at all times.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Controls Engineering — or equivalent field experience (8+ years).Prior field experience with an OEM - e.g., GE Vernova, FieldCore, Siemens Energy, or a comparable heavy-duty turbine service organization.Direct, hands-on field experience with GE Mark V, Mark VI, and/or Mark VIe turbine control systems during outages, installation, or commissioning.Field experience on GE heavy-duty gas turbines.Working knowledge of turbine auxiliary and protection systems (lube oil, hydraulic, fuel gas/liquid skids, fire & gas, vibration monitoring).Ability to read and apply P&IDs, elevation drawings, logic diagrams, and loop drawings without close supervision.Experience troubleshooting control system software/PLC logic in a live outage environment.Willingness and ability to travel extensively and internationally, including on short notice.Valid passport with ability to obtain visas for GCC, and broader international travel; medically fit for site-based field work.Preferred QualificationsWorking exposure to non-GE turbine control platforms, such as Alstom ALSPA, Siemens (S7-based) control systems, and/or Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) control systems, is a strong asset given DeveEnergy's multi-OEM field scope.Familiarity with GE OEM documentation conventions and proprietary inspection/torquing standards.Qualification to perform and experience with generator offline electrical testing (winding resistance, PI/IR, AC impedance, RSO).Prior experience operating independently in a small, senior field-service team without large back-office support.BenefitsMedical InsuranceRelocation Package for candidates based outside UAEFamily benefits
