Gen AI Engineer (Java)

We are partnered with an established financial services institution in Singapore looking for a Senior Backend & AI Engineer to join their enterprise engineering team.The team is focused on deploying production-grade Generative AI products across enterprise operations, moving well past lab experiments and proof-of-concept builds. In this role, you will bridge solid backend software engineering with modern AI orchestration to ship stable, high-throughput applications.Key Responsibilities:Design, build, and maintain robust backend microservices and APIs to support customer-facing and operational AI tooling.Implement and refine agentic workflows and LLM orchestration layers integrated into core enterprise architecture.Optimize existing application performance, ensuring production resilience, security, and observability across deployed models and services.Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to evaluate architecture trade-offs and drive practical engineering standards without over-engineering.Requirements:Proven track record in core backend software engineering, with strong production experience in Java.Practical familiarity with GenAI orchestration frameworks, agent-based systems, or retrieval pipelines (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph, vector search/Elastic).Solid grasp of REST API architecture, system resilience, and enterprise design patterns.Strong engineering discipline with an emphasis on code maintainability and pragmatism over experimental code.
