Job PurposeThe General Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping activities for the company and its clients, ensuring that financial records are accurate, complete, properly maintained, and compliant with applicable UAE accounting, VAT, and Corporate Tax requirements.The role requires strong practical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage multiple client accounts while meeting deadlines and maintaining professional communication with clients.2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Accounting & BookkeepingMaintain accurate and up-to-date books of accounts for assigned clients.Record and classify sales, purchases, expenses, receipts, payments, and other financial transactions.Prepare and maintain general ledgers and supporting schedules.Perform bank, cash, customer, and supplier reconciliations.Review accounts receivable and accounts payable balances.Maintain proper documentation and supporting evidence for accounting entries.Identify and correct accounting discrepancies and irregularities.Ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company procedures.B. Financial ReportingPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for clients.Prepare Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow Statements, and other management reports.Prepare trial balances and supporting schedules.Analyze financial information and identify unusual movements, discrepancies, or errors.Assist in the preparation of financial statements and audit schedules.Coordinate with auditors and provide required accounting records and supporting documents.C. UAE VAT CompliancePrepare VAT workings and VAT return files in accordance with UAE Federal Tax Authority requirements.Review sales and purchase invoices for VAT compliance.Verify VAT treatment of transactions, including standard-rated, zero-rated, exempt, and out-of-scope supplies.Prepare VAT reconciliations and supporting schedules.Assist clients with VAT registration and deregistration requirements.Monitor client turnover and identify potential VAT registration obligations.Assist with VAT return submissions and related FTA requirements.Maintain proper VAT documentation and records.Stay updated with changes in UAE VAT rules, regulations, and FTA procedures.D. UAE Corporate TaxAssist in Corporate Tax registration and compliance activities.Prepare Corporate Tax working files and supporting schedules.Review accounting records for Corporate Tax purposes.Assist with the preparation of Corporate Tax returns and calculations.Identify relevant adjustments between accounting profit and taxable income.Maintain proper documentation and supporting records for Corporate Tax compliance.Stay informed about UAE Corporate Tax regulations and FTA updates.E. Client ManagementCommunicate professionally with clients regarding accounting and taxation requirements.Collect and follow up on required accounting documents and information.Conduct client meetings or visits when required.Explain accounting, VAT, and Corporate Tax matters to clients in a clear and professional manner.Respond to client queries within the required timeframe.Follow up on pending documents, confirmations, payments, and approvals.Maintain confidentiality of client financial and business information.F. Internal Controls & Quality ReviewReview accounting entries and supporting documents before finalization.Ensure client files are complete and properly organized.Follow AL MAIMANA's internal accounting and documentation procedures.Identify potential errors, compliance issues, and missing information.Ensure accounting and tax files are prepared according to company standards.Maintain proper digital and physical records where required.3. Additional ResponsibilitiesAssist senior accountants and management with special accounting projects.Support the team during VAT and Corporate Tax filing periods.Assist with audit and financial review assignments.Support company formation and business advisory teams when accounting input is required.Perform other accounting and finance-related duties assigned by management.4. Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CA, CMA, or equivalent is an advantage.Minimum 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the UAE.Practical knowledge of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax.Experience in bookkeeping and preparation of financial statements.UAE accounting or accounting-firm experience will be preferred.5. Required Soft SkillsStrong attention to detail and accuracy.Good analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines.Strong organizational and time-management skills.Good written and verbal communication skills.Professional client-handling skills.Ability to work independently as well as within a team.Willingness to learn and keep updated with UAE tax regulations.Ability to work under pressure, particularly during VAT, Corporate Tax, and financial reporting deadlines.High level of integrity and confidentiality.7. Language RequirementsEnglish: Good written and spoken English is required.Arabic: Preferred, particularly for client communication.Additional languages will be considered an advantage.8. Client VisitsThe candidate may be required to visit clients' offices when necessary for:Collection and review of accounting documents.Bookkeeping and accounting support.Client meetings.VAT and Corporate Tax discussions.Financial reviews.Other accounting-related assignments.A valid UAE driving license and access to a vehicle will be an advantage.9. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)The General Accountant will be evaluated based on:Accuracy and completeness of accounting records.Timely completion of bookkeeping assignments.Timely preparation of VAT and Corporate Tax files.Accuracy of VAT and Corporate Tax calculations.Quality of financial reports.Timely completion of client requests.Client satisfaction and communication.Compliance with internal accounting procedures.Ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies.Meeting assigned deadlines and workload targets.10. Working ConditionsThe position is based in Dubai and may involve working from the company's office as well as visiting client locations when required.The employee is expected to maintain professional conduct, confidentiality, punctuality, and compliance with AL MAIMANA Accounting & Bookkeeping LLC's policies and procedures.11.
