Job Title: General Accounting ManagerDepartment InformationSector: FinanceDivision: Transaction FinanceDepartment: General AccountingReports To: Transaction Finance DirectorDirect Reports: Accounting ProfessionalsJob PurposeManage and oversee revenue accounting, payment processing, payroll accounting, fixed asset accounting, and general ledger activities in accordance with approved policies, procedures, and accounting standards.Key Roles and Responsibilities Leadership and Strategic Key AccountabilitiesContribute to the development of the Transaction Finance Division plan and develop the operational plan of the General Accounting Function according to set objectives.Develop General Accounting Function key performance indicators and continuously monitor progress towards the operational plan.Implement the General Accounting Function framework, methodologies, techniques, and principles.Take operational decisions and escalate key decisions to senior management when required.Ensure that the General Accounting Function operational plan is communicated and understood at all levels.Optimize resources and ensure team efficiency while providing recommendations for improvement.Develop budget requirements for the General Accounting Function, ensuring alignment with plans and business needs.Develop procedures to ensure all actions are conducted in a systematic manner.Ensure work is performed based on approved policies, processes, procedures, and instructions.Key Functional AccountabilitiesIdentify opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes, and practices considering leading practices, cost reduction, and productivity improvement.Develop schedules and systems to enable timely and informative accumulation, adjustment, and reporting of financial data related to revenues.Escalate issues as needed to ensure timely and efficient resolution.Verify revenue documentation to maintain accuracy.Monitor revenue accounting activities and reports across headquarters and regions to assess revenue collection and ensure appropriate handling of bad debts.Supervise reconciliation between collection channels and IT systems to ensure payments are processed smoothly and on time.Consolidate revenue collection reports and participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting cycles and financial statement preparation.Ensure bank transfer requests and other payment documents are processed smoothly and efficiently.Ensure petty cash reconciliation for record alignment and compliance purposes and replenish petty cash funds in accordance with approved budgets.Ensure accuracy of payroll accounting entries through periodic review of employee data and timely processing of salaries, benefits, and pension payments.Approve reports and presentations related to Function activities and achievements for reporting and decision-making purposes.Supervise fixed assets accounting activities in line with approved policies and procedures.Ensure standardized coding for assets and stay abreast of best practices.Develop an asset reporting framework in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.Ensure depreciation is charged on all assets in accordance with approved standards and regulations.Manage financial reviews of asset disposals and provide recommendations regarding disposal decisions.Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting statements and reports, including supporting schedules and reconciliation reports.Analyze and evaluate the recording of financial transactions, journal entries, and ledger postings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting policies and procedures.Ensure detailed instructions are issued for monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities and monitor the closing process.Key CommunicationsInternal StakeholdersAll DepartmentsPayroll and Benefits AdministratorExternal StakeholdersBanksSuppliersJob Qualifications and RequirementsKnowledge and ExperienceMinimum of 8 years of relevant experience.Education and CertificationsBachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.DisclaimerThis job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this position.
