The organization values clarity, reliability, and proactive compliance support, offering a modern solution for complex licensing challenges.Role Description The General Counsel will serve as the chief legal advisor for License Corporation, overseeing all legal matters related to the company’s operations and business license compliance platform. This full-time remote role includes providing strategic legal guidance to leadership, drafting and reviewing contracts, and advising on corporate governance, data privacy, and risk management. Day-to-day responsibilities involve monitoring regulatory changes, ensuring compliance with labor and employment laws, managing outside counsel when needed, and developing internal policies and procedures. The General Counsel will collaborate with cross-functional teams, support commercial negotiations, address legal issues arising from product development and customer relationships, and help maintain a culture of ethical and compliant business practices.Qualifications Strong expertise in handling a broad range of legal issues and providing practical legal advice to executive and operational teams.Experience in labor and employment law, including advising on workplace policies, contracts, and compliance with applicable regulations.In-depth knowledge of data privacy and protection requirements, preferably including experience with relevant global and regional privacy frameworks.Background in corporate governance, including board matters, entity management, and development of company policies and procedures.Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.Several years of post-qualification experience in a law firm and/or in-house counsel role, ideally in technology, SaaS, or regulatory compliance sectors.Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly, work independently in a remote setting, and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.Demonstrated judgment, integrity, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to risk management and compliance.
