Our partner is looking for a General Counsel based in the United States.This is a senior, hands-on legal leadership role supporting a growing business in the real estate, title insurance, and mortgage technology space. You will serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, helping teams navigate complex legal and regulatory questions while balancing risk with practical business objectives. The role spans commercial contracting, regulatory matters, corporate transactions, intellectual property, and title-related legal issues. You will work closely with Compliance and other cross-functional teams while managing external legal partners. This opportunity is well suited to an entrepreneurial legal professional who enjoys broad responsibility, ambiguity, and direct business impact. The role is fully remote and requires the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across the United States.AccountabilitiesServe as a strategic legal partner to business leaders, identifying legal issues, evaluating risks and tradeoffs, and providing practical guidance that enables informed business decisions. Research and interpret state regulatory requirements affecting the title insurance and mortgage industries, translating complex requirements into clear, actionable business guidance. Support corporate development, financing activities, and other strategic transactions as needed. Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including agreements governing the delivery and procurement of products and services. Provide legal expertise on individual title matters, assessing specific facts and circumstances and recommending practical approaches to manage legal and business risk. Partner with Compliance leadership on regulatory interpretations, regulatory interactions, and complex risk matters requiring legal judgment. Manage and oversee the organization's intellectual property portfolio. Select, coordinate, and manage relationships with outside counsel across relevant legal practice areas. Mentor and develop internal team members involved in contract review and other legal matters, strengthening legal capabilities across the organization. RequirementsJ.D. degree and active admission to a U.S. state bar. Substantial experience advising businesses across commercial, regulatory, and general corporate matters, including a strong working knowledge of residential title and mortgage transactions. Experience as a broad, hands-on business lawyer in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment, with the ability to work across disciplines and address unfamiliar legal questions. Strong judgment in assessing risk and navigating ambiguity, with the ability to distinguish material legal concerns from manageable issues and recommend compliant, practical paths forward. Prior experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth, or entrepreneurial organization. Demonstrated success managing outside counsel relationships and coordinating external legal resources. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear guidance for non-legal stakeholders. Experience mentoring and developing legal professionals is preferred. Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions or financing transactions is preferred. Comfortable working remotely and maintaining meaningful schedule overlap with colleagues located across the United States. BenefitsBase salary range of $195,000–$240,000 USD, with actual compensation determined by factors such as qualifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, and business needs.
