General Counsel

Role Description The General Counsel will provide part-time legal leadership and support for Jai Enterprises in a hybrid capacity based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with some flexibility for work from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include advising on contracts and commercial agreements, overseeing compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and managing legal risk across the organization. The role will also involve guiding labor and employment practices, advising on data privacy and information security issues, and ensuring robust corporate governance frameworks. The General Counsel will collaborate with senior management, coordinate with external counsel when needed, draft and review legal documents, and develop policies that support ethical and compliant operations.QualificationsCandidates should possess strong expertise in handling a broad range of legal issues and providing practical, business-oriented legal advice.Candidates should possess skills in labor and employment law, including drafting policies, advising on employee relations, and ensuring compliance with local regulations.Candidates should possess skills in data privacy and related regulatory compliance, with the ability to advise on data protection practices and risk mitigation.Candidates should possess skills in corporate governance, including policy development, board support, and oversight of company-level compliance frameworks.Licensed attorney with a law degree from an accredited institution and relevant bar admission; experience working across jurisdictions, including the UAE, is an advantage.Several years of experience in-house or in a law firm advising corporate clients, preferably in a commercial or multinational environment.Strong analytical, negotiation, drafting, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently in a part-time, hybrid setting.High level of integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to build trust with stakeholders at all levels.
