General Manager

Market Juice is looking to bring on an General Manager to run the day-to-day operations of a health and wellness focused cafe, stepping into the role the owner has held herself. This person will effectively run the business in the owner's place: full authority over staff, cash, inventory, and daily decisions, with the accountability that comes with it. We are looking for someone with previous experience in a cafe/coffee shop setting and a passion for healthier living.Our mission at Market Juice is to provide health focused food and beverage items to our community. We strive to serve all customer bases (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, and meat lovers alike) and serve customers products that have as many whole, clean ingredients as possible. We're also launching a baked goods program, growing our menu beyond juice, smoothies, and cafe fare. We have worked hard to create a fun, welcoming environment for our staff and customers. We are looking for someone to carry on our mission.Responsibilities:Team LeadershipCreate and manage employee schedules, adjusting staffing to match Alaska's seasonal swings in foot trafficRecruit, train, and manage staff performance, including termination decisions when necessaryServe as the point person for all employee issues and day-to-day problem-solvingOperations & Guest ExperienceExercise full day-to-day decision-making authority in the owner's absence, acting in the best interest of the businessOversee kitchen production, specials development, and our new baked goods rollout, working closely with the head of kitchen operationsResolve customer complaints and handle service recoveryMaintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for staff and customers alikeUphold current procedures and identify opportunities for new, more efficient processesFinancial & InventoryHandle daily cash handling, register reconciliation, and bank depositsManage everyday bookkeeping tasks and payrollManage inventory and ordering, and price out new products while keeping a vigilant eye on cost of goodsTrack basic financial performance (daily sales, labor cost, cost of goods) and report to the ownerManage the POS system (Square), including reporting, comps, and voidsCompliance & StandardsMaintain regulatory compliance with health department standardsUphold the standards and ethics of Market JuiceQualifications: Demonstrated experience in operations or store management, including scheduling, workflow coordination, and basic reportingStrong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge of inventory control and stock management, preferably in food, beverage, or retail settingsComfort with point-of-sale systems and basic cash-handling procedures; ability to learn new operational tools quicklyClear, professional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and vendorsUnderstanding of basic health, safety, and sanitation standards relevant to food and beverage operationsProactive problem-solving skills and a focus on process improvement and efficiencyPrior supervisory or lead experience is preferred; experience in the Greater Anchorage Area market is a plusAbility to work on-site during peak business hours, including some evenings and weekends as neededHigh school diploma or equivalent required; further education in business, operations, or hospitality is an advantageWe We're Looking For:1-2 years of experience in the food industryPrevious experience in food service management is preferredStrong communication skillsStrong attention to cleanliness, organization, and consistencyReliable and detail-orientedServSafe Manager Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)Passion for healthy living and nutritionShift Availability: Full-time position, with a flexible schedule.Compensation:Salary, based on experience.
