With thousands of employees across multiple regions, they are a trusted partner to customers and suppliers in their specialist sector.We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a true procurement leader to take charge of their Procurement Function: someone who can bring structure, capability and pace to a division with real momentum — driving best-practice operations for its future.The OpportunityAs General Manager Procurement, you'll own the strategic direction, governance and performance of procurement across the business, spanning IT, Corporate Services, Process, Governance & Systems, and Category Management. You'll lead an experienced direct team plus indirect reports across cross-functional project teams and regional procurement leads, with oversight of over $1B+ in spend.This is a genuine seat at the table: you'll work closely with our client's Executive Leadership Team, the CFO, and General Managers across Commercial and Operations, and you'll representing the function in global procurement forums.You will have the following responsibilities:Leading the strategic direction and operational execution of the Procurement Function across all categoriesDeveloping and implementing enterprise-wide procurement policies, governance frameworks and performance metricsDriving procurement transformation — digital enablement, supplier innovation and ESG integrationBuilding and developing a high-performing team, with a strong focus on capability and succession planningOverseeing major contract negotiations, supplier partnerships and risk mitigation strategiesDelivering sustained cost and EBIT benefitsEngaging with procurement leaders across other regions to drive global category strategies, supplier consolidation and standardisationEnsuring compliance with regulatory, ethical and safety standards across all procurement activityWhat we are looking for:Our client is open to industry Abackgrounds — candidates from mining, explosives, oil & gas, or broader supply chain, transport and logistics backgrounds are all of interest, but this is not essential. What matters most is technical procurement capability, proven leadership, and the ability to genuinely develop a team. They're after someone with real gravitas and interpersonal strength, paired with deep technical credibility — equally comfortable setting strategy and getting into the detail.Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Supply Chain or Engineering; MBA preferred10+ years' senior procurement leadership experience in complex, multi-site environmentsA proven track record leading procurement transformation and delivering enterprise-wide valueExpertise in contracts, supplier risk, ESG compliance and digital procurement platformsProficiency with SAP, analytics tools and e-sourcing platformsThe ability to operate effectively across a matrix structure, with the drive and challenge orientation to set the baseline for a maturing global functionCulture matters for our client, it sits at the highest level of importance to their business.
