Position: DGM/General Manager – Purchase

Location: Noida, Uttar Pradesh

Department: Purchase / ProcurementReporting To: Project Delivery Group Head.About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced and result-oriented General Manager – Purchase to lead our Purchase & Procurement function from our Noida Office.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in Steel Procurement, preferably from the PEB, Structural Steel, Engineering, Manufacturing, Infrastructure, Construction or related industry.The candidate will be responsible for developing procurement strategies, vendor management, commercial negotiations, cost optimization, timely procurement and ensuring uninterrupted availability of critical raw materials, particularly steel and steel-related products.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage the overall Purchase & Procurement function for the organization.Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business and project requirements.Manage Steel Procurement including sourcing, negotiation, price finalization, purchase planning and timely delivery.Should have substantial hands-on experience in Steel Purchase/Procurement for approximately 8–10 years in the present or immediately preceding organization.Identify, evaluate, develop and maintain a strong network of reliable steel suppliers/vendors.Negotiate price, payment terms, credit period, delivery schedules, quality requirements and other commercial terms with suppliers.Monitor steel prices, market trends, availability, lead times and market fluctuations to support effective purchase decisions.Drive cost reduction, value engineering and procurement savings through strategic sourcing and negotiation.Ensure timely procurement of steel and other raw materials as per production/project requirements.Coordinate closely with Production, Projects, Planning, Stores, Finance, Design and Sales/Business teams for procurement planning.Establish and maintain appropriate vendor evaluation, rating and performance-monitoring systems.Develop alternate sources and ensure business continuity by minimizing supply-chain risks.Ensure adherence to approved procurement policies, budgets and internal controls.Review purchase orders, contracts and commercial terms to ensure optimum business value.Monitor supplier performance relating to quality, cost, delivery and service.Handle commercial disputes, shortages, quality issues, delayed deliveries and vendor escalations.Lead a team of purchase/procurement professionals and develop their capabilities.Prepare and present MIS, procurement reports, cost-saving reports and market intelligence to senior management.Ensure procurement processes are compliant with company policies and applicable statutory requirements.Continuously identify opportunities for improving procurement processes, systems and vendor efficiency.Mandatory Experience & Skills15+ years of overall experience in Purchase/Procurement, with significant experience in a leadership role.Mandatory: 8–10 years of hands-on Steel Purchase/Procurement experience in the present or immediately preceding organization.Strong exposure to procurement of structural steel / MS steel / HR coils / plates / sheets / sections / fabricated steel or other steel products.Experience in PEB / Structural Steel / Engineering / Manufacturing / Construction / Infrastructure industry will be highly preferred.Strong vendor network and understanding of the Indian steel market.Excellent commercial negotiation and supplier-management skills.Strong understanding of purchase contracts, commercial terms, payment terms and procurement processes.Proven track record of cost optimization and procurement savings.Strong analytical, decision-making and problem-solving abilities.Good communication, negotiation and leadership skills.Proficiency in SAP and MS Office/Excel.Ability to manage high-value procurement and multiple requirements simultaneously.QualificationGraduate / B.E. / B.Tech / MBA (Supply Chain/Procurement) / PG in Materials Management or equivalent qualification.Ideal Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate should be a strategic yet hands-on procurement professional who has personally handled significant Steel Procurement and possesses strong knowledge of steel suppliers, pricing, negotiations, market dynamics and supply management.Candidates whose experience is predominantly in indirect procurement, services, consumables, IT procurement or general administration purchase will not be considered.Key Performance AreasSteel procurement cost optimizationTimely availability of steel/raw materialsVendor development and performanceProcurement savingsCommercial negotiationsSupplier quality and delivery performanceInventory/procurement planningProcess improvement and complianceTeam leadership and development
