General Manager - Waste Management/Recycling Solutions

Hays are supporting an environmental services and recycling business to appoint an experienced General Manager to lead and grow its local and regional operations.This is a high-impact leadership role with full responsibility for business strategy, commercial performance, operational excellence, stakeholder engagement, regulatory compliance, and P&L management. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing sustainability initiatives and supporting the circular economy agenda.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and execute the company's growth strategy across the local market.Drive revenue growth, profitability, market share expansion, and business development activities.Oversee end-to-end operations, ensuring efficiency, service quality, scalability, and continuous improvement.Maintain strong relationships with government entities, regulators, strategic customers, and key stakeholders.Assume full P&L ownership, including budgeting, forecasting, financial performance, and cost optimisation.Champion ESG, sustainability, HSE, and circular economy initiatives across the business.Build and develop high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and innovation.Required Experience 10-15+ years of experience within environmental services, waste management, recycling or closely related sectors.Proven success in senior leadership roles with commercial and operational accountability.Strong experience managing P&L performance and delivering sustainable business growth.Demonstrated capability in stakeholder management, government engagement, and regulatory compliance.Strong leadership, strategic planning, and business development skills.Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline, MBA considered an advantage
