Apply & track with Apply EdgeGeneral Production Technician / Follow Spot OperatorCrazy Horse Paris: The Dubai EditionDepartment: Technical / ProductionReports to: Technical Manager / Assistant Technical ManagerLocation: Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, Palm Jumeirah, DubaiRole OverviewThe General Technician / Follow Spot Operator is a multi-skilled technical position responsible for the precise operation of the follow spot during all performances, while also supporting the wider technical team across stage, lighting, AV, props, and general show operations.As a resident theatrical production where lighting, movement, music, and choreography must work in exact synchronization, the role requires exceptional concentration, timing, consistency, and awareness of performer movement. The successful candidate must be able to execute follow spot cues accurately night after night while also serving as a versatile technician capable of supporting multiple technical disciplines.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate the follow spot during all assigned performances, accurately tracking performers according to established cues, choreography, and artistic direction.Maintain precise timing, positioning, beam control, intensity, size, and movement throughout the performance.Learn and maintain detailed knowledge of the production, including performer entrances, choreography, blocking, lighting cues, transitions, and technical sequences.Execute follow spot cues consistently and accurately according to the approved artistic and technical standards of Crazy Horse Paris.Participate in rehearsals, technical rehearsals, cue-to-cues, and show adjustments to maintain accurate follow spot operation.Perform daily pre-show inspections, testing, setup, and positioning of follow spot equipment.Identify and report equipment faults or operational concerns before they impact a performance.Maintain and assist with preventative maintenance of follow spot equipment and associated lighting systems.Serve as a General Technician, supporting the Technical Team across stage, lighting, AV, props, and other technical requirements as needed.Assist with show presets, changeovers, resets, backstage operations, and post-show technical checks.Support the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of general theatrical equipment.Assist Lighting Technicians with fixtures, cabling, focusing, maintenance, and other lighting requirements when needed.Assist AV, Stage, Props, and other technical departments during rehearsals, maintenance periods, special events, and operational requirements.Respond quickly to technical issues during live performances and support the Technical Manager in maintaining show continuity.Maintain a safe, organized, and performance-ready technical environment.Follow all venue safety procedures, working-at-height requirements, equipment procedures, and technical protocols.Support and guide junior technicians when required.Assist with technical requirements for private events, corporate functions, and venue activations.Technical Skills & ExperienceStrong experience operating professional follow spot systems in theatre, live entertainment, concerts, or resident productions.Excellent understanding of follow spot technique, including performer tracking, beam positioning, iris control, intensity, movement, and cue execution.Strong understanding of theatrical lighting and live-show operations.Experience working from show calls, cue sheets, and communication systems.Ability to memorize and anticipate performer movement and choreography.Experience with lighting fixtures, cabling, focusing, and basic troubleshooting.General knowledge of stage operations, AV, props, and backstage technical systems.Familiarity with grandMA3 or similar lighting control systems is advantageous.Experience with networked theatrical systems and show control is advantageous.Comfortable working at height where required and in accordance with venue safety procedures.Strong hands-on troubleshooting and basic equipment maintenance skills.Candidate ProfileMinimum 5 years of professional technical experience within theatre, resident shows, live entertainment, concerts, or major events.Proven professional experience as a Follow Spot Operator is strongly preferred.Previous experience working on choreography-driven productions, dance shows, musicals, or large-scale theatrical productions is highly desirable.Strong concentration and ability to execute precise cues consistently across repeated performances.Excellent visual awareness, timing, coordination, and attention to detail.Able to anticipate performer movement and react immediately to unexpected changes during a live performance.Multi-skilled technical background with the flexibility to support multiple production departments.Calm and reliable under live-show pressure.Strong understanding of backstage discipline and theatrical safety.Comfortable working as part of a technical team and taking direction from Show Management and Technical Management.Flexible availability for rehearsals, evening performances, weekends, public holidays, and special events.Able to work immediatelyCompensationAED 8,000 per month, all-inclusive, including housing/accommodation, transportation, and any other personal living expenses in the UAE.
