About the roleThis is a hands-on, high-impact clinical role with significant influence across the organization. As one of two genetic counseling leaders at Juniper, you'll help shape how genetic counseling is delivered, scaled, and integrated into the broader patient experience. Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer and partnering closely with our Genomic Services Lead, you'll serve as a trusted clinical voice in a highly collaborative environment.You will provide the genetic counseling services we keep in-house, act as a key clinical resource for the broader team, lead case-level coordination and results delivery, and provide clinical oversight of our automated workflows and reporting processes. Your expertise will help ensure clinical quality, accuracy, and consistency as we continue to grow and evolve our service model.At the same time, you'll help us continually rethink how work gets done. Your goal isn't simply to manage today's workload, but to help build smarter, more scalable ways of delivering care. You'll champion thoughtful automation of routine and repeatable tasks, allowing clinical time and expertise to be focused where they matter most: supporting patients, navigating complexity, and applying sound clinical judgment. Working closely across teams, you'll help ensure our results, workflows, and patient experience remain clear, accurate, and compassionate. What you’ll doClinical CounselingDeliver the patient counseling we keep in-house, including certain pre-test and post-test conversations along with counseling around newly launched tests.Treat this scope as deliberately dynamic. The goal is to automate more of this workflow where we can and route what cannot be automated to our external counseling vendors. You’ll help decide, case type by case type, what genuinely needs our own clinical voice and what can be handed offDocument encounters and support follow-up plans. External Communication & PartnershipsServe as a key resource for a full range of incoming clinical inquiries, partnering with our Genomic Services Lead on questions and escalations that come in from the inbox.Support our external genetic counseling vendors, ensuring outsourced counseling stays consistent with our standards. Case Coordination & Results DeliveryOwn case-level order and sample coordination with our lab partners.Handle residual case work that requires a genetic counselor’s judgment. Data Integrity & Lab CollaborationAct as the human-in-the-loop for our automated intake pipelines where clinical judgment is needed.Feed patterns back upstream. When the same fields fail or the same errors recur, surface them and implement solutions. Operations & Systems ImprovementMaintain accurate documentation, CRM and LIMS data, and internal records.Contribute to SOP development and quality initiatives.Continuously identify recurring themes in your own work, bring them to the forefront, and help design them out. This could be through automation, templates, portal self-service, or process change. Where you can, build the fix yourself with AI and low code/automation tools to prototype and ship improvements rather than only writing up requirements for engineering.About usJuniper Genomics is a venture-backed startup using genomics and modern data science to improve IVF success rates and access, reducing the burden of trying to conceive. We bring rigor, honesty, and kindness to everything we do.QualificationsRequired:A Master’s degree from an accredited Genetic Counseling program.ABGC certification for at least three years required.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with patients, clinicians, and cross-functional teams.Ability to bring structure to ambiguity and work in a fast-paced startup environment.Travel Requirements: This is a primarily remote position with occasional travel (approximately 10–15%) for quarterly team meetings, customer engagements, training, or other business needs. Definitely helpful if you have:Experience in startups or other entrepreneurial environments.Experience in reproductive genetics or laboratory genomics.Multi-state genetic counselor licenses.Experience managing external vendors or partners.Comfort and familiarity with AI and automation tools, and a genuine appetite for using them. Familiarity with CLIA/CAP, quality systems, or diagnostic workflows.A track record of success working on distributed or remote teams.
